Emblems and clear coating
Hello. I'm in the process of disassembling my 1995 convertible for a repaint. The original clear started coming off in small sheets a while back , so I'm going to redo the color and clear.
My question is , the original emblems, front and back, had deteriorated so badly that the outer ring of the emblems have broken off in pieces without any help from me, when I install new emblems, would it help, hurt or have no real effect if I cleared them before installing them. I only ask because it's plain to see the uv is what ruined the emblems and was hoping the clear would help keep the uv exposure down.
Thanks.

The choice is yours but I never clear these emblems. The reason is the amount of time to prep them so the clear will stick is not worth it for me. Becasue any place on the emblem that you cannot scuff will make it so the clear can peel off and then you have another problem to deal with.
Give it a try because all that you would have to deal with is replacing the emblems again.
