I ended up going 11.80 at 116 on a stock driveline (6sp) in my coupe with headers/intake. Soon I'll have a built 4.10 rear, new clutch and I'm shooting for 11.40 in early spring. I'm confident that I'll be able to dip deep into the 11.40s with just my current bolt-ons and new gears, but would it be possible for me to hit a high 10 with a fairly aggressive cam? I'll be adding a cam next summer regardless, but I'd like to know what kind of reasonable goals I should be setting for myself.
Sure can do..... RobZ did it with 400rwhp or something stupid like that. I hate that guy Took me 444rwhp to make it happen but i did hit 10.81 at 130mph So cam only with a 1.50 60ft, reduced weight, perfect weather, stars align and RobZ/Gary sprinkle some pixie dust on your car voila you're in the 10's.

Yup, I believe Rob had only 396rwhp when he went 10.9s as a cam only car. And keep in mind that back then he likely wasn't quite as good of a driver (though he did have mad skillz ) as he is today as well, there might've even been a little more left in there.

With the parts/technologies that are available for these cars today, going 10s in a cam only C5 can certainly become a reality. And yes a little magical Rob/Gary pixie dust wouldn't hurt either.
YeloFevr you went 11.80 with just bolt-ons in a coupe? What were you launching at? What wheel/tire combo were you using? I went 12.80 in a AT coupe with an intake and a tune. I am in the process of adding a 3.42, LTs, and an LS6 intake (since I have a 2000) and I was looking for about a 12.40. So with the right torque converter and wheel/tire combo I can see 11.80? Do you plan to put a cage in your car? I was just thinking about getting a cam after that and getting as close to 11.50 as possible so I don't get kicked off the track cause I really don't want a cage but I'm sure that will change once I get to 11.50, cause then I will want 10s. Speed is addicting.
high 10s cam only is definitely possible. Would have to be a good DA day, any normal day in the summer i doubt it. But with seat time and the rest of the combo your putting together i could definitely see it. It seems there is only a few c5 cam only cars that have hit 10s.
c5 mike - LTs, 3.42s, LS6 intake and a 3600+ converter and you will be in the 11s no doubt. My gf's T/A with the same mods about 3600lb raceweight does 12.1x. We are hoping for 12.0 maybe touch 11s this weekend.

Yes, consistent 11.80's that day w/ headers & intake. Stock clutch and stock 3.42s leaving at 4k. I'm not going to be putting a bar in my car...I'll just stick to track rentals if I get booted at Cecil.
damn. thats really good for a coupe. i was happy with 11.9 in my 01 z06 w/ vararam, gears, and drag pack. im bout to do a cam only myself. i had to replace trans from power shifting also
Of course Robz did it w/ a c5z(which is lighter and has better heads) He since helped Gary do it with just bolt-ons in his c5z. Then they helped Capthuff run 11.3 as a bolt-ons c5 convertible, so I'd believe it to be possible with an ls1...although I don't think it'd hurt to be an frc
It's amazing to me how much things change. When I blew my engine and got my work done in summer of 2008 I thought that should do it(sig) but seeing all of this, I'm getting that bug again.
I may get another C5 and go a different direction next time.
i wouldnt trust on .4 off your 1/4 with gears only.. some people have gains, some not too much. they helped me maybe .15 or so and about 1 mph maybe. sure helped my 60ft tho. i pull 1.64 with 4.10s and tires only
I hope mine will have simular results in the spring. Mines 414 at the rear wheels, cam, ported heads, ls6 intake ported tb, kooks long tubes, xpipe, mid pipe and axlebacks, short throw shifter and Toyo TQ DR's. I'd be happy with mid 11's and then maybe spray it later or just work on the current package for 10's at some point. Mines a 99 coupe.

I'm shooting for a 1.55 60' which is completely possible. Two tenths off the 60'=4 tenths on the top end. We shall see!!

its possible. how do u launch? i launch from 5,000rpm with et streets at like 15 psi. it dead hooks. 1.55 would be very good with ur car. i'd go 3.90's tho imho. i wish i would have.

Leaving at 4k and slipping the clutch like there's no tomorrow. Dead hook=bogging down/BOOM. 1.71 was my best 60' with 3.42s so I see no problem reaching 1.55 with 4.10 gears and a slightly more aggressive clutch release.
