Nice now I am thinking automatic trans? what kind of stall converter? Either way nice results keep up the good work!
Yes, A4 full weight car + overweight driver! I am trying to get the right method down with my new converter and DR's. I think with lower tire pressure and better track prep I can get the 60's down in the low1.5 range!
The converter is a Circle D billet, single disk @ 3200 rating.
Went to the 1/8th mile track last night. I tried two diffrent methods, the first was launching at 2200. This resulted in two 1.6 60's and 7.1@98/99.
The second method was launching at 1500, this method resulted in breaking the tires loose and smoking them..
So I have a little more testing to do to get the right combo, but overall I am pleased.
*These runs were all on 305/35 -18 MT II street radials at 26psi.
If anyone is interested the DA was 2115
Best Run - Launch at 2200
60' 1.6197
330' 4.6139
1/8 7.1038
1/8 98.34
Nice runs on a new combo! Thats about an 11.00-11.10 in the 1/4. What track were you at? HMP? I think you have a lot more in it. What kind of power did it make?
Yeah usually with a good converter you will get the hardest flash with the lowest stage rpm. On my old vette I leave from about 800 rpms if the track is hooking good.... 1.53 60's. If the track is crappy, i will leave higher, it will flash lower and shock the tires less, that lets it hook better but usually only 1.57-1.60 60's like that....Thats with only 3.36 gears and a 27" tire.
We'll probably run into each other at the tracks as soon as it cools off....

Thanks, I agree the car has 10's in it as it sits. I pulled some timing out of the tune as I was seeing a tad of KR on Saturday night. I was just testing the converter and DR's, so I did not worry about max power for last nights runs.
I was at HMP so track prep is marginal at best! As we get some cooler weather I will be at RPR chasing down those high 10's!
The car makes right around 505 rwhp at 11.o A/F and 15 degrees of timing.
I look forward to meeting you, let me know when you are heading out to the track!
How is it possible to launch at that low of an RPM and not bog way down?
I launched at either 3,500 or 4,000rpm on Nitto 555 RII's with not much clutch slip and I still bogged down a little. That was with a 1.981 60ft.
The original poster's car is an automatic, as long as it leaves in 1st gear they generally don't bog (in the traditional sense) regardless of where ya launch them.

Ah, didn't see that mentioned anywhere. I could have missed it. If not, he should list that next time.

Sorry, I tried to clear that up in post #4, if my car was a 6 speed I would still be running 9's! Funny, I have been driving standard gearbox cars for 18 years yet I still cant launch and row the gears at track in a high HP car.
Are you guys removing the front sway bar for drag racing, or buying an aftermarket one? I have bilstein sports up front, what would you all recommend for shocks out back? (lately the only street use the car sees is driving to the track)

removed sway bar in my car 04 coupe and i run stock everything else check avatar wheels up on a 1.405 sixty ft launched at 1800rpm's on a 16" dr with 3600 stall. have about the same power as you in my 382

I will be removing my front bar and lowering the tire pressure for testing!
Congrats, that pass very well could have been a 10.99 as the splits are very close to my PB below. Either way I'm sure you'll be well in to the 10s next time out

Because when you leave lower the converter Flashes and multiplies your Torque by what ever STR you have. So leaving at 1500 is like getting a quick 650-700lbs of TQ for a split second. If you have ever seen a dyno from an A4 they tend to have a huge TQ spike from the convector flashing. By brake stalling you bypass some of that flash or spike.
