New question ?? I will always be on the run flats. I know the converter and gears will roast the tires which I don't really want to do. Would just the 3.42 gears alone work better? The converter gives more punch off the line but if it just spins the tires what good is that ? Is there a way to launch with the run flats and the high stall converter without spinning so badly? Would not it run the quarter hooking on just the 3.42 gears faster than trying to ease it off the line with the converter and gears?

If you're going to always be on runflats, you may as well leave it in the garage or just take it to car shows. Run flats have no place at the strip.

first thing i got rid of when i put my 3.42 in the rear. no traction at all on the flats but plenty of smoke i f you like that.

i wish i had read this thread earlier...part of my purchase was that the dealership had to purchase set of run flats for my Vette!

now i'm reading that i should have done without? other than avoiding being momentarily stranded, what good are the run flats?

Yeah I hear u. The dealer put a set of brand new Michelin run flats on mine before it was put up for sale. It had new spin flats when I took delivery.

Get a set of drag radials and be done with it. My car has a cai, Yank converter, 3.42 gear, tune, plus a couple little mods and it killed the runflats off the line, from a roll, and would be completely useless at the track.
