I will always have respect for a car that is driven to and from the track and runs a 6 second 1/8 @ 100+ (1/8 tracks are about all we have around here).
However, it seems that in the last year or so the "fast" guys locally are breaking the 5.99 barrier on cars driven to and from.
feel that any thing from 12 to 10 second 1/4 quick
10.5 to 9.7 second is fast
any thing under 9.7 is a beast
I personally know 10 plus people here in my little town with 10 second cars and about three of them are knocking on 9 seconds door
when I consider these numbers I look at cars that normal people can afford so things like twin turbo fully built 2000hp lambos do not count I hold exotics/cars with stupid amounts of money invested to different standards
This topic is kind of funny. I always hear bench racers talking about what is "fast" and 10 second 1/4 miles and 9 seconds.... My summer toy goes low 11's and frankly its wayyy too much car for me, and I'm not new to "fast" cars. Personally I think I'm good with a mid to high 12 second car.. thats my driving skill limit... I can and have driven a few of my previous high 12 second cars to their limits and its thrilling.... but my current DD takes alot of care to tame.
I agree with Chris. Mid to low 10's and you perked my interest if I'm sitting in the bleachers.
Well I hope to perk your interest once the new motor is broken in
Will easily run a 6.x@100+ driven to and from the track, which is what I've been wanting to say as it's already a 10 sec car and that just doesn't have the same ring to it after Paul Walkers passing...
Three tracks have closed here in three years and a fourth is supposed to close this year:-/
when you say "street car" I'm thinking of a car that can be driven any place any time expressway, in traffic on a 95 degree day or where ever, with that said mid 11's or faster to me is fast!
now if your taking about a trailered car that is street legal but cant be driving all the time I say 9's

Who closed besides Crandall and the one outside of Greenville? San Antonio? And who is closing this year?

Good point. We can drive ours anywhere under any circumstances (other than rain because of the drag radials) but we do trailer it just in case of breakage. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere today other than weather.

Sorry missed this...yes dallas raceway, then redline and SAR, heard this is Texas raceways last year though they've been saying that for a while. That will leave just northstar and yellow belly(1/8) and Texas motorplex for (1/4) lines will be longer than ever. Not a dragstrip, but Texas World Speedway is getting leveled this year for houses. Heard a track in Cali is being closed for a mall, surprised with 10sec/700+hp cars coming from the factory.
