Last night I watched an excellent, must-see NEW documentary about the race.
It's called Le Mans: Racing is Everything
Available now from Amazon for streaming.
It gives a bit of history of the race, but is primarily a behind-the-scenes look at the 2015 race.
VERY eye-opening and entertaining to boot.
The video is superb.
Shot with 4K cameras.
Available in UHD HDR, 1080p, etc.
I can't recommend this enough...a 3hr warmup for the race that will be hard to forget.
Free Practice 1 in the books. Not totally sure we can read too much into the times, and I think the weather was a little warm by Le Mans standards.

Aston leads with 3:52.1, Ferrari at 3:52.2, Porsche at 3:54.5, and Ford at 3:55.1.
Corvette at 3:56.7.
I'll expect these times to come down as the tweak setups. 2 more qualifying sessions tomorrow as well.
Dusk, so I imagine the weather is getting cooler which will help. I

Aston 2nd in GTE-Pro??
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The first qualifying practice just ended. This is how they will start unless faster times are turned in the next 2 sessions. I've listed fastest time for the first car of each manufacturer. Not sure if everyone is running for ultimate time in this session, but I suspect this is pretty close to the order we have. Aston and Ferraris are close, with the Ford, Porsche and Corvette in a second pack 2-3 seconds back.
GTE Pro:
1. Aston Martin: 3:52.1
2 Ferrari: 3:52.2
3 Ferrari
4 Aston
5 Ford 3:54.1
6 Porsche 3:54.2
7 Ferrari
8 Porsche
9 Corvette #63 3:54.8 (set last lap of session)
10 Corvette #64 3:54.9
11 Ford
12 Ford
13 Ford
The Larbre Corvette is 5th in GTE-AM. If you recall they were the "Art" car. Had an accident in practice, and don't have any extra "Art" body panels. The rear is plane yellow at this point. Not sure if the artist is on site or has materials to make another one. At least it is only the rear.
Ford has found their magic and jumped to 3rd with a 3:52.5.
Corvette #64 has jumped the Porsches as well with a 3.53.6 -1.4 seconds off the Aston.
The other Aston now takes the pole with a 3:51.9, giving them 1 and 2.
Ford's top car at 3:52.5 (4th)
Corvettes 8th and 9th 3:53.1 and 53.3.
I'll update when the session is over...
Aston 3:51.8
#64 Corvette 3:52.0
Ferrari 3:52.1
Aston
Ferrari
Porsche 3:52.1
Ferrari
Ford 3:52.5
Ford
Porsche
Ford
#63 Corvette 3:52.9
Ford
IF everyone is really running hard, to have the whole field within 7/10ths is amazing.
The Astons and Ferraris seem to be able to consistently turn quick laps more than some of the others, but this is all you can ask for. Every car has a chance.
I'll root for Toyota, but I'm not sure P1 will come down to speed. It usually doesn't...
Night air bringing times down. After hanging onto 1st for a couple of laps, Corvette goes to second behind a Ford, followed by a Porsche. None of the Ferraris have seemed to run a lap for time this session, and one of the Aston's hasn't been out for a at speed lap yet. They may be using this just as some good night practice, we'll see.
The Larbre Corvette is currently #1 in GTE-AM, and looks great at night.
