Chuck and I were there with our C4s facing a bunch of C5s (C5s were the last row of parking spots facing that little road between BK and McDs).

It's much safer to bolt the race belts to the stock seat belt location but that requires the adapter and some cutting. I would also keep the bar installed all the time. the car will ride 100000000000000 times better....

If we can get a few people to come by my house after the dinner on Thursday we can get the belts and the bar installed in no time.

The event you are going to is MOnday june 20th? right??
I'm pretty sure he used the stock seat/floor points. It's hard to explain, and I am sure I'm not explaining it right, either I took pics b/c I am a visual person, I needed to "see" how he did it. But explain it, I apparently suck at I didn't see any "I" hooks in his install, though. Man, this has been a headache, not even started yet! But, since he did it with no cutting/mods, it is doable, I just need to get there...

I know that it's better to leave the bar in and do things more permanently, but honestly, I'd rather not do that to LilRed, however it definitely will be permanent in the track car, once purchased. Working on that. Although once we get this damm thing installed, I prob will get lazy and not take it out for a while I am also thinking of doing a track event at Watkins Glen (Aug. 3rd) and prob would leave it in for that, then take it out until the next event in the beginning of October, or until the track rat is bought, whichever comes first.

Someone, shoot me...please.

Here are pictures of the kit I'm using to BOLT the belts to the STOCK seat belt location. MUCH SAFER!!!!

if you want to bolt the belts to the stock bolts on the seat then you need something like this.... You don't need the bolt but the triangle thing with the hole and slit to mount the belt is what you need.

more of a eye hook not I-hook.

Make sure to get two sets of belts. Sometimes the instructors won't allow you to use the belts with them in the car if they don't have a set as well.

Actually, it's Aug 3 and 4 at WG, but it's $215/day. If you can only do one day, they want you to do Aug. 3rd b/c of the classroom aspect will be on that day. I'm doing Aug. 3rd, if I can con a club member to tow up my wheels.

If I can't then I'll do the 1/4 mile track on Aug. 4th. Which track is it at?

Ugh, now I'm totally I don't recall seeing any of those pieces. All I know is that he used the stock bolt to fasten the piece that was already present on the belt. He got his belts from R-D Racing

I won't put it in if you can't do it without cutting. If it were the track only car I wouldn't care, but not with LilRed. I know it's possible since FELNGR8 has it in...just figuring it out in such a short time is a PITA

I'll hafta develop the pics and then post; haven't gotten around to buyign the digital camera yet...yes, go ahead and make fun of me now

I didn't make it to BK. Popz was tired from moving furniture most of the day and didn't finish until 8 ish. I figured there would be a bunch of RICE there.

Where is the 1/4 track day on August 4th? My car needs some more abuse.

Also the August 3-4 at the Glen, who is running that? Maybe I could make that one for my first HPDE.

Dave's kit from R-D Racing uses a hook like you show in the last photo. He uses a bolt of his own fab that is slightly longer than the stock bolt, but a low profile head to still fit in the location.

What is difficult that I couldn't explain adequately to Lilred is that for the inside belt, next to the console, you have to adjust the length of the belt before bolting it in place. There is too little room in there for two sets of belts between the seat and the console to do anything but swing it to the right angle. Other than that it is bolt in and adjust the belt to fit you and your desired seat location.

Both side belts bolt in with the original belts in the stock location, but with substitute bolts that Dave has fabricated.

The front belt goes around a flat piece of metal for dual role of belt and fire extinguisher anchor. It attaches under the seat frame held by the two front seat bolts.

I'll take some pictures.

OK, I've developed my digital pictures already. quick in the darkroom, eh?

Here's a shot of the front 5th belt and the fire extuingisher mount.

Here's the anchor for the inner belt bweteen the seat and the console.

Here's the mount for the outisde belt and harness.

It looks basically the same as Rob shows, except for the detail of the bolts themselves. And I believe Dave supplies a spacer to go between the seat belt retractor and the outside I-hook for the harness belt. The front harness piece is powder coated with smooth edges to not chafe the belts. It all goes under existing seat and belt mounting locations.

Lilred was talking about Rob drilling on the frame to install the belts, maybe she had a misunderstanding?

Those pictures really make my car look grungy down there. Time for some serious detailing.

Looks like the RD racing kit gives you everything you need, and bolts the belts to the stock seat belt locations. SAFE!!!! I've seen people use the rear seat bolts that go into the floor board to secure the belts!! BAD IDEA!!!!!!!

The kit I'm using allows me to remove the belts when not in use. the RD racing kit is Permanent

RD racing kit seems to be the cheapest way to go. Lilred, can you get the belts from RD racing with the hardware by thursday?

Robert

The WG event is put on by www.apexperformancedriving.com, that school I was telling you about at BK yesterday. If I can get my wheels up to NY, I'm game!

Nope, he really wanted to do some drilling from what I understood. Your set-up is the way I want to go, however

Rob, provided I can get all the right parts , think this is doable?

Hmmm, from what I understood the R-D racing kit is not permanent and the car can be returned to stock easily. True or not?

FELNGR8, thanks for posting those pics U da man! As far as getting everything in time....I can try to see if they'll overnight everything...gotta be sure of what I'm ordering first, though. Help?

Edit: saw this page - http://www.r-dracing.com/paypal.htm

I assume I need the following:

one of these - C4/C5 Lap Belt mounting kit. (one kit for 2 seats) $40.00

two of these (in order to attach the 5th point on BOTH seats, as well as mount the fire ext. to the pass. side?) - C4/C5 Extinguisher/Center Strap mount.(1-seat) $40.00

two sets of belts, latch looks way cheaper, guess I need to decide...

Plus hope that it is all in stock.

Need to get a Halon ext....ugh, this never ends!

The R-D Racing kit can be returned to stock. Save the bolts that you take out for the side belt install and use them to go back to stock.

Here is Dave's home page :

R-D Racing Home

Lap belt kit page :

Lap belts

You need the lap belt kit and two of the C4 fire extinguisher center straps. You use them to mount the 5th belt with or without fire extinguishers. Fire extinguisher kit

You need two sets of 5 point cam-lock G-Force belts in black. Hopefully he has them in stock. Definitely give him a call to be comfortable that you are getting all you need, and that he can ship it right away.
