I'm interested! Don't think I'll be able to make them all and it'll be awhile before I'm much of a contender, but sounds like a great time!
The beauty of this is that all will be contenders! ROYARMS entered the street class one night last fall after we had a test & tune day and went all the way to the fials and won $400!!! He had NEVER raced!
Hey Ed it will be good to see you again...how's the Fiat, or should I say "Fiabeast" coming along ?...the 78 is looking sweet BTW...as for Shawn...HEY SHAWN...if I can do this anyone can...I never got the feeling I was going to have any problems and I didn't...just zoom, zoom straight down the track...I'm sure after a couple of runs you'll be having nothin' but fun !!!....

Thanks for the vote of confidence Dan, its just a little un-nerving thinking about running my car down a track at 100+ miles per hour. But once you think about it, it is probably safer than me running my car 100+ miles per hour down the regular road. :yesnod:
Re: FL Corvette Challenge Update! (Mean Green 2000)
Guess I need to make sure I have some miles on this bad boy. Time to practice launching with a clutch. This thing is a whole lot different than my coupe! Will put in for my weekend off tonight when I report for work. :D Tracy or Mark is it the last weekend of every month or will you supply dates? Gotta race :D Gotta race :D Gotta race :D :D :D :D :D
Bob
Hey this is the same weekend as the ZO6 fest in Bowling Green! Guess I need to decide which is more important.
What about your insurance? What happens if you were to hit the wall?
Those are the kinds of things that I am worried about.
I was a bit paranoid the first time I ran too (I've only been to the track once)...Just stay focused and it's all good. Just drive safe and don't take risks. There were one or two runs where I started feeling like it was getting ready to break loose...I just let off. Granted, I don't have alot of experience, but seems to me that as long as you don't disregard safety for an extra tenth, there isn't a whole lot to worry about.
It's certainly alot safer doing it on the strip than that little stretch of Anderson that you told me about ;)
The beauty of this is that all will be contenders!
You obviously didn't see my time slips when we went at the end of July :D
I also used to be pretty nervous about running at the track, best piece of advice is, "if you can't afford to break it, don't race it"....I'd also add, "can't bear to see it broken" :(
I've had to get off the gas in a couple of runs but I never had a problem, however, I have seen a C5 get a little damage down there
oh, and insurance won't cover this :(

Re: FL Corvette Challenge Update! (Mean Green 2000)
Here are those people who expressed interest, read as "committed" :D
TLewis4095, Mean Green 2000, Half Fast, 16Again, 1fastdog, 9vette3, CATBUCS, daddydahlin, Jim Terry, Larry K 87, Monkeywrench, Streeknight, My95, tkbllg, tscales, vertvette, vstella, Stan Dempsey and Golfboy.
Or is that SHOULD be commited?! I'll plan to see ya'll on the 28th!
Just need a start time and an est duration and I'll put it on the club calendar. I'm assuming this is Bradenton as well... I can probably getting upwards of 6 or 7 cars to race.
Re: FL Corvette Challenge Update! (Mean Green 2000)
You guys are not thinking properly..you need an LT1/Auto like mine...then you can cruise down the track in 14 sec while sipping your favorite cold beverage and have no worries.. :jester :D :D
p.s. I just noticed..where are Tbrewing & Grandsport C3 on the list..

Boots, that would be AWESOME! 6-7 more would put us close to 30 for the first event!!!  Golfboy did just great at the track, and the best advice I can give would mirror Mean Green...if in doubt, LIFT! And never correct to much with the vette having such quick ratio sterring.
Again, the last Saturday of each month at Bradenton with December off. (possibly January also.) The biggest event of the year at Bradenton is the SnoBird Nationals 1st week of December.....lets get some of us practiced so the motivated try their luck at that event...5 days I believe and big bucks to win every day!!
Re: FL Corvette Challenge Update! (Mean Green 2000)
Maybe sometime we could have this up here at the Gainesville raceway. Not trying to take away from bradenton, but it's a better track IMO. My muscle car club had a track day there, and we got to take the lanes to do an elimination type bracket race.
If there is any interest in it I will talk to Don about doing this with the gainesville raceway. How much is it costing you guys to reserve the BMP spot once a month? Could you please email me the full details of your deal with BMP, so that I can discuss this with Don(the track manager).
Great!!!  Keep em comming!! We need a few women drivers to come onboard also...All who want to be on the list please click on Mean Greens link in the first post of this thread and fill out the short sign-on form.
