We are in need of more racers so please, it's only once a month and it's a blast to compete....low wear on the cars too :D and easyily met requirements :)

Starting off there will be plaques and trophies (maybe cash prizes later as it gets bigger). 1/2 of all those entered will at least get a plaque. ALL the winners from the 1st round will receive plaques :cool:

We're looking for sponsors so if you have suggestions please let us know, or make the contact on behalf of us. We're looking for several different tiers of sponsors!

Mark....the 28th is my Sanibel cruise and I have well over 25 vettes committed so Looks like I will miss the race :(

I will offer basic how-to's and instructions at the first event to all that are there early enough. Register online so we get your info if possible, but just show up is fine to...we want ALL that can participate, and bring along your fan club so we can show Bradenton we are a force!

Tech card will probably be $20, and $10 to get in..(the $20 should cover the whole day for test & tune also...but that is not confirmed yet.)

Your $10 will allow you to stay for the evening programs as well, and if you feel up to it, enter Sportsman ET (street) class for $20 for a chance to win $500! :cheers: :cheers: :cheers:

 

Obviously I'm ready to rock & roll Mark...lookin' forward to learning how to do this "bracket racing"..I think.. :D ..as you know I've got that "automatic slow down mod" installed in my vette that kicks in just before the traps.. :jester ..unfortunately I've got TWO conflicts to deal with...Ken's lunch/cruise and Roger's on October 26th that I've already signed up and paid for... :( ...can you give me some times, maybe I can fit both in the same day ?

 

damn....I didn't realize this was gonna squash the Roger's gig too.....DAMN :mad

 

Maybe it (the challenge) could be moved to another day just for October ?..just this once..pleeeeease...BTW I think we are clear of events on the last sat of the month after October... :D

Thanks Ed, but I am not sure that I want to race every month. But, I would like to see what I can pull in the 1/4 just to see my time.

What is involved with a corvette challenge?

What about your insurance? What happens if you were to hit the wall?
Those are the kinds of things that I am worried about.

 

Insurance does not cover a track event, but don't worry....it is very rare that anyone ever wrecks...and we will give good instructions on how to avoid problems, and what to do if you get into one. And if you do tag the wall...it's really easy to fix a C5! In 3 years I have only seen 2 vettes hit the wall, both were avoidable (we were one).

On another date we tried and they have every other possible day booked for other events. If you can't make it in Sept, come for the Oct one! This year is mainly to get the bugs worked out and try to get all possible to learn this fun sport....just ask John Mackey or Edgar Perez from the http://www.corvettechallenge.info and get it first hand! :cheers:

10-11 events per year. Every 4th Saturday, gates open at 9-9:30, eliminations start at 12 noon (proposed) Done by 3. Any wishing to stay for the evening sesion may do so for no extra$ for admission, just another tech card if you want to compete. We may have an away event in say Jacksonville or Gainsville, or Moroso if anyone can get one of those tracks to allow it without costing an arm & leg to do. (Joe Cool may be able to arrainge it in Northern FL!) Also, in Jan or Feb Bradenton may want to have a whole day or whole weekend event of drags/car show/vendors/bikini's, etc. when the weather is great here, and pretty icey up north (to entice our northern brothers & sisters down to sunny FLA) as long as we can schedule it to not interfere with other big gatherings. They want to do it as an annual corvette gathering with vette owners coming from all over. :cool:

I suggest that we limit it to 8-9 events per year, preferably during the cooler seasons. Other than that it sounds good and I'll be there to keep Joey honest. :D

Really, to have events like these become a success there are other areas in which you can assist. Maybe someone has a very modified car that can use your help at the track or just as a spectator is always fun.

 

Amen CATBUCS! Joey, we all know you can bracket race---so get the vette and make sure you are a regular fixture!!

As far as the home track, it is http://www.bradentonmotorsports.com , they are the one that is willing to do this for us so they will host the majority of the events. :) :cheers: :)
