He did not say when the state would get off their azz but he said it was typical Ca s#$t that they announce a start date and then are not prepared when that date rolls around.
They need to raise our taxes again before they can implement? Isn't that how it goes? Let's see...gas tax is going up, charge more for the smog fee and then implement in 2015?

Again, that's just a rumor, and we won't know anything until a tuned car gets scanned with the new device from the state.

Thanks, I knew that, but I was surprised that I hadn't read anything from someone who went through it!

Mine is due in Oct. and I've been putting off getting tuned because of the uncertainty.

Any of you local tuners have any input as to how this is going to affect your ability to tune?

That's for the first. I think the interval is shorter after the first check.

I recently bought a winter place in southern CA. My car is still in Michigan. I plan to move to Southern CA full time in two years and have been dreading the whole smog test issue for my 86 which is currently licensed as a historic vehicle in Michigan.
What year is the car???

Yes we do have smog laws. Tuolumne County is CARB1 so we are required to test at each sale point. Now, Sac is trying to get us bumped to CARB2 since the crap from the bhey area is drifting up here.

So if we keep publicly advertising that our cars are illegal, we can be assured that we'll end up being downgraded to CARB2.
