I'll be there!

Will you still be allowing 2 drivers/ 1 car? My friend wants to see firsthand what a Vette can do.

Hey Tim, it IS a blast!!

I'm not a member of North Bay Corvettes, but I can say that they allowed multiple drivers at the last two events that I attended. I would guess that they would continue to allow that.

Yes, two drivers for 1 car will work - just stagger the ride group and work group you're in. See ya Sunday! :)

Great Day and thanks for all who helped the rookie. Runs went slow, less slow and almost fast, but had a great time and loved the course, only almost lost it a couple times. Congrats to those who won or came close and might try to make it again before the season shuts down for good.

Randy

I'm glad you enjoyed it. We had 60 drivers registered, and the 4 run groups went very smoothly. Thanks to all who planned and prepared for the autocross, those who drove and worked, and even those who just came and watched! We'll probably do another one there in April of 2003.

Yep I had a great time today. Ran a 45.811 in compition and 45.3 on the fun run's but I really need a alignment. The track setup was great and people were friendly.

Thanks for posting this event on here nice inexpensive day of fun :)

Thanks for the great event. It was my first time too. Just when I thought I was over mod fever, now I have race fever.

What were the fastest times of the day, just out of curiosity?

I took a little video of the event,

I know they went into the low 43's and I think into the 42's. My best scratch time was 44.0, but unfortunately I hit two cones out during that run.

Ken Albers took best time with 42.256 before Marci blew the power steering box in their race car. Jay, thanks very much for posting your videos. :) Fastest gal was Cheryl Martin in the C2 "Yellow Bird" coupe with the plate USA ROD, at 43.710.

I ran a 45.8 on street tires in compition and 45.3 on fun run's. Most people under 46.0 had auto cross tires on there car. There was a guy with a Lt4 C4 that was doing in the 43's consistently I have a new found respect for c4's :)

The guys with the fast LT4's were Jim Barnes at 43.053 and David Bonar of Santa Clara Corvettes, at 43.353. My LT4 did a best fun run of 49.085, with my son Jeff at the wheel. It was an ideal day for the autocross! :)

I was one of the guys wearing the racing rubber. Don't let it fool you, many of our engines are stock with only minor adjustments to our suspensions -- we currently run in the SCCA A Street Prepared class which says changing things like the heads and cam are illegal.

A course like the one on Sunday tends to favor horsepower over handling because its mostly a bunch of long straights. With that said, there is no substitute for driver skill; Ken and Dave both have tons of that. An agressive style helps too on such a wide open course.

I think that is part of the fun of autocross, every course in ever sanction is different. Some favor handling, some favor power, some favor agressive drivers, some favor smooth drivers. I've been actually known to beat these guys like Dave on some courses, where on others they totally blow my doors off...

Kudo's to the gang at North Bay for putting on a stellar event!

For those SCCA members out there, don't forget Round 1 of the Slush Series is Sunday at Golden Gate Fields. A place where smooth usually beats agressive.

Sorry but I could've ran the setup faster with a stock car and race tires. With a heads/cam car it is difficult to control wheel spin when you do autocrossing because the speeds just aren't that high. The only straight away was the finish and the very begining which really weren't that long at all. You have to understand with a heads/cam C5 traction is really a issue when your doing 30mph and under. No traction = loss of time on the run

Skips car that ran in the 42's is not stock give me some race tires, allignment and I am sure I would've been right there with him as far as times.

Also the 18/19 HRE wheel setup is not ideal for that last autocross it really slows the handling down.
