Never had a problem with the side markers. The taillights are a different story.

It shouldn't pass inspection that way, but it's doubtful you'd get pulled over for it.

A lot of people say the same thing about not having a front license plate...

Right up until they get pulled over and are given a ticket for it.

I had the blackouts on my C6 for several years and never had a problem with the cops or yearly state inspections. I lost one some how so I just took the others off. And, my wife has had the blackouts on her '10 Camaro for over four years with no problems either.

I have been pulled over five times with the blackouts and no front plate. All warnings for speeding and never a mention of the other two. Next?

I've been pulled over five times for not having a front plate and only for not having a front plate. No other violation was involved.

Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it never will.

We're not talking about no front plate here. We're talking about blacked out side markers. Never happened and never will. Period.

Never is a very long time. There's always a cop out there with a chip on his shoulder who would welcome any excuse to write a ticket.

Yes, but when they see me as an older, more responsible and more respectful salty-haired driver, they tend to be more lenient. I never give them a reason to have that chip, and if they do, I would never in a million years try to knock it off their shoulder unlike some of the younger generation around here.

It happened to me off I45 in Dickinson less than a week after I had mine put on.

Sorry. Doesn't impair the effectiveness of my lights and therefore has passed all inspections legally for the last 5 years.

ding ding ding winner!

It's not supposed to pass inspection and depending on the cop they will give you a ticket or most likely a warning.

I went without a plate for 2 years until a DPS patrolie pulled me over for it and gave me a warning. City cops usually have more important things to do but DPS looks for any small reason to pull you over.

Read it again. It's not supposed to pass an inspection if it changes the color of the lights or blocks normal operation. Neither are the case on my car. They still show the correct color and are perfectly visible at night.

Semis, yes, they will ticket for a single marker light out, even from a bad ground. Wiggle it, it works, too bad the tickets already written. But a car/suv? I think thats ignored completely.
