I believe I have a scammer on my hands. I had reached out about a set of coilovers for a C8 and was contacted by “Tyrese Smiths” with the below email address and phone. When pressed about details and car setup for the suspension they replied using ChatGPT…. I’m new to this forum and had no idea how bad the scamming is these days.

I replied to a for sale post, they responded - but I noted they're not the original person who listed the part for sale. I also realized that the part was already sold per a duplicate thread by the original person listing the part.

I googled their telephone #, +17202952641, and found this thread. Their # was listed.

Reyus (720-295-2641) got me. Sent me a quick PM and didn’t realize it wasn’t the OP of the FS ad. Sent the POS the money. He was on the list. Didn’t know there was a list, and both are on me.

He used this number to be paid by Zelle.

Update: See you did report it and that scammer was banned by a moderator earlier.

 

PMed me in response to a WTB post I put up. Suggested I contact them by text (number below). Area code doesn't align with stated location and language in the message is odd. Only recently joined. Replied that they should just post images. Crickets.
