Notice the indentation on the chrome base. There is a similar one on the other side. I assume there is some special tool you can use, but I was removing mine, so I just grabbed it with pliers. Perhaps a small screwdriver or punch could be used, but be very careful of your paint!

Pretty nice performance for a fuel injected engine at less than $10k.

I wanted something a bit retro that keeps with the silver and black theme.

Literally, 2 seconds. One to remove the nut and lock washer. One to pull the arm.

Got a little suction decoration.

Tomorrow I have most of the day for the final push to finish the wiring and plumbing in the engine bay.

And a working cooling system, well all hooked up anyway. It remains to be seen if it works!

Engine compartment basically complete (well, still needs paint in the hood recess). I’m going to install the hood and rear balance as is while I work on the flares. First, my roll bar should finally be here next week so I can button up the interior.

There is a slight depression roughly where the insert fits, but it’s best to sneak up on the final opening.

I used a brass wire brush on my drill to clean up the hinges, support and latches and then left them natural for now. I kind of like the patina, but at some point I will need to coat them with something. Perhaps a flat clear coat.

The hood clears the air cleaner by about 1/2”, but I had to swap out my cool bow tie retainer for a plain old nut for clearance. That was a real relief!
