C6 Corvette: How to Reset Your Oil Light

An oil light will remain on until you turn it off manually. Here's how to do so yourself.

This article applies to the C6 Corvette (2005-2013).

After you finish an oil change, you will notice that the oil light is still on, which doesn't mean you did something wrong. Don't forget to reset your oil life to properly reflect the life of the new oil. It is a simple task, and will help you maintain accurate maintenance on your C6 Corvette.

Materials Needed

  • None

Step 1 – Turn on the car

Turn the key and get the engine going. You need power in the car for the gauges to be displayed and reset.

Step 2 – Press the trip button

Press the trip button. This will make the dash display the oil life percentage.

Step 3 – Press and hold the reset button

Press and hold the reset button. This will reset the oil life percentage to 100%. Note: Some only reset to 99%.

If the percentage doesn't reset, turn the car off and try the process again.

Step 4 – Turn the car off

Turn off your car. You have successfully reset your oil percentage. Presumably you changed your own oil, and now your baby is either ready to take a break or hit the road.
