C6 C7 Corvette: How the Poor or Cheap Man Can Reset His TPMS

Follow these simple instructions to reset the TPMS monitors on your Corvette.

By Bart Kempff - February 18, 2015

This article applies to the C6 and C7 Corvette (2005-current).

Resetting the TPMS monitors on your Corvette is a simple task. However, as opposed to older Corvette models, the newer series requires a special TPMS tool that is necessary to reset the system. Previous Corvette models allowed resetting of the system with a magnet; however, the C6 and C7 will not allow this. Finding the TPMS tool is not difficult, and the money spent on the tool will still be less expensive than having the dealer or tire shop charge you for the same service over the life of your car.

Materials Needed

  • Car keys/key fob
  • TPMS tool

Step 1 – Push the "ON" button without starting the car

Turn the key to the accessory position or press the "ON" button without stepping on the brake pedal, but do not start the car.

Step 2 – Utilize the key fob

With the key fob in hand, press and hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously. After a few seconds you should hear a small beep from the car horn, letting you know that the TPMS system is ready to be reset.

Step 3 – Use the TPMS reset tool on each wheel

The tires should be reset in the following sequence: left front wheel, right front wheel, right rear wheel, then left rear wheel. Press the learn button or similar button on the tool as directed by the instructions, and waive the TPMS tool around the valve stem of the left front wheel. Within 3 to 4 seconds, you should hear a beep from the car horn notifying you that the TPMS has been reset for that wheel. After resetting the left rear wheel, you should hear a double beep from the car horn, which will notify you that the TPMS reset is complete for the vehicle.

Step 4 – Double check the PSI readings

After completing the reset process, you may want to check the PSI readings on your Corvette's information screen to ensure that the current pressure readings are within manufacturer specifications.
