Corvette of the Week: Feels Like the First Time

We celebrate a lot of Corvettes around here, for plenty of good reasons. But there’s just something about a person’s first ‘Vette that kicks up the reveling a notch. That’s why this 2001 yellow C5 coupe is our Corvette of the Week.

This beauty now belongs to new member Alaskansasquatch, who just purchased her with 96,000 miles on the odometer, although such usage is far from apparent. From the sounds of it, he couldn’t be happier, particularly with the 1SC package with the selective ride control. In fact, he still can’t believe it’s actually his Corvette.

Alaskansasquatch, who’s also in the running for Best New Username of 2016, has already gotten to work on making the car even more his own. He’s already “installed the hyperflash harness and new metal headlight gears to address those problems before they became issues.”

Alaskansasquatch previously owned a 2004 GTO, modded with heads and cams. And he has similar plans for the ‘Vette, but perhaps with a smaller cam, since it’s an older LS1. Other plans include getting a C6 Z06 shifter and lowering the car. And he’s looking to source some Z06 243s and a “nice cam with under .600 lift.”

Wisely, Alaskansasquatch is seeking advice from fellow Corvette Forum members to see if there’s anything he should know about the car. So head on over to his thread to help him out. And be sure to congratulate him on his Corvette of the Week when you do.
