Corvette Forum Member Loses Z06 in Trailer Fire

Compared to this guy, you’re having a pretty good day. Corvette Forum member escan70 found out that his 2015 z06, which was en route to Florida, won’t be able to complete the journey. The open trailer which was transporting it caught fire and destroyed all nine cars on board.

As the driver was travelling though South Carolina, something on the truck managed to catch on fire. It’s not clear if it was something on the truck that caught first, or if it was one of the other loaded cars. With lots of hydraulics and oils in close proximity to the brakes, a fire could spread rapidly before the driver is even aware of what’s going on behind him. Either way, the damage is done, and now there’s a whole lot of paperwork ahead.

While it is possible that the truck’s brakes had caught fire, that’s a somewhat rare thing to happen. After all, dealerships get their cars delivered by truck anyway. Judging by the other types of high-end cars on this transporter, it was likely a reputable company to work with. Lets just hope their insurance is up-to-date.
