I really need to dial up one of these professional driving schools to see if they’d be up for whipping me around a track in a C7 with a more experienced driver at the helm. As much as I love being behind the wheel myself, I certainly realize there are a lot of people more qualified to give me a better feel of what the new Corvette is really capable of.

Corvette Racing seems to have finally found its stride with the C7.R, earning a first- and third-place finish in the new Chevy race car this past weekend in Long Beach. Driving the No. 3 Corvette, Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen took the top spot in the GT Le Mans class of the Patrón Sports Car Showcase, giving Corvette Racing its first win in the C7.R.

Corvette Racing roars into Long Beach this weekend for the Tequila Patrón Sports Car Showcase with one nice win already under its belt. The team, looking to find its groove for the 2014 TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, was recently named RACER Magazine’s 2013 Team of the Year in worldwide motorsports. The editorial team of the popular racing publication selected Corvette Racing for the award based on the team’s winning the 2013 American Le Mans Series GT championship.

It looks like the Corvette Racing team has a few kinks to work out with the new C7.R. After rolling into the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring with high hopes of capturing a win, the team’s two C7.R cars ended up finishing sixth and eighth for the second round of the endurance race. At one point, the No. 4 Corvette C7.R led the race before two late spins and engine issues.
