Tesla Model S vs C7 Corvette Stingray

Have you ever wondered how the C7 Corvette would fair in a drag race against a Tesla Model S? Wonder no longer, for you are about to find out how the Tesla’s electric “buzz” compares with the Corvette’s internal combustion “pop” at Palm Beach International Raceway.

We’ve seen the Tesla Model S compete against established performance players like the BMW M5 … and win. We’ve also seen the C7 Corvette one-up a variety of worthy adversaries.

In this race, on the left side of the track we have a 2013 Tesla Model S with the 85-kWh Performance package. As equipped, the Tesla produces 416 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque from zero rpm. Tesla says the Model S Performance can eat up the quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds.

On the right side of the track is a 2014 Corvette Stingray equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission. As optioned, the Corvette makes 460 ponies and 465 lb-ft of the twisty stuff. Typically, Z51 Stingrays are low-12-second cars.

Does the 4,647-pound Tesla have a chance against the 3,300-pound ‘Vette?
