VIDEO: Reckless Corvette Driver Spins Into and Flips Over a Truck!
One may not think a Corvette could flip a heavy-duty truck, but in this case, all it took was a wet road and poor decisions to make that happen.
We’ve certainly seen our fair share of accidents over the years that involve a Corvette, and most of the time, those accidents occur because the driver was simply going too fast for conditions – or just driving a car with capabilities that exceed their skill level. It’s an unfortunate reality for a car that’s been around for over 70 years, offering up loads of performance for one’s buck, and will continue to be the case for the foreseeable future. This recent Corvette wreck adds to that list, but it’s also a pretty spectacular one to see in action.
According to Village News, this particular incident took place on northbound Interstate 15 near the San Diego-Riverside county line in California, just north of Rainbow Valley Boulevard. As we can see in videos posted to social media, the yellow Corvette was attempting to pass a white Ford Super Duty in the right lane, amid some pretty heavy rain. However, while they were in the process of moving to the center lane, the Corvette driver quickly lost control.
That sent the sports car back toward the truck, nose first, smashing into it at high speed. The Corvette wound up wedging itself underneath the side of the Super Duty, which sent it airborne and rolling over onto its roof. The impact of that crash stopped the Corvette in its tracks, at least, and the vehicle capturing video of the incident was able to stop before smashing into the sports car and causing further carnage, at least.
Amazingly, the Corvette’s roof remained intact and in good condition, and the driver wasn’t apparently injured, either. The front end was smashed up pretty bad, as is the case with the rear driver’s side quarter, but it’s pretty impressive how well it held up, overall. As for the Super Duty, well, its roof caved in as one might expect from such a violent rollover, but the driver wasn’t apparently hurt too badly.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the driver of the truck managed to get out and was found on the side of the road holding their head, so he at least had to check in with paramedics.
The two vehicles wound up blocking the two right lanes of the road for hours, however, causing a pretty nasty traffic backup in the process – and reminding everyone why driving too fast for conditions is never a good idea.
