OPTIMA Presents Corvette of the Week: Atomic Orange Z06

I hereby ordain June 6th, 2014 as “Double-650 Day”. Today we found out the official power and torque figures for the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06.

The new Z06 is officially the most powerful production-spec Corvette ever, with 650 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. That’s a lot of power and torque … so much so, it necessitates celebration, thus my ordinance of “Double-650 Day”.

To celebrate this new wave of power that is headed to showrooms for the 2015 model year, let’s take a look back at an earlier-model Z06 for this edition of “Corvette of the Week”.

This Atomic Orange 2007 Z06, which “FRChilln” (Mike) has for sale on the forum, is a clean example of how the ideas of beauty and speed can be integrated so well. Mike’s car has several modifications of note, the most important of which are the WCCH heads to prevent the all-too-common “LS7 Dropped Valve” issue. Also, this Z06 has been lowered an inch. Delicious.
