i think when i finally do get an alarm i will go with the company that makes viper, ect(cant think of the name right now) it would be really cool if you had the GPS syste in it like lojack but depending on how often you drive the car it may not be worth it. lets face it. there are cars out there worth a lot more than our C4s. i saw a list not to long ago that was pretty current and among stolen cars C4s was no where near the top. I always want mine to look pretty plain/sleeperish from the outside anyway so there not many ways a potential theif is going to know what i have done to my car or how much its worth. for all purposes he would probably be better off stealing the acura TSX or the brand new F150 parked beside me!
Just me, but I would never buy a GPS system. The way I look at it, if my car gets stolen I don't want it back. I'll take the insurance check and sign it over on a new Z06, thank you!

Heh, I always thought Lojack was kind of a joke anyways. Its not like the cops are going to go out of their way to track down your car. But I dont know about that insurance check, insurance companies are pretty brutal on what they 'think' your car was worth in the first place. We all know our vettes are worth more to us than what the insurance companies rate it as.

the GPS system that viper has is a lot better than LoJack because YOU can locate it at anytime. you dont have to wait for the cops to go find it you can
Sounds cool. I could use that to tell the cops where NOT to look. Like I said, if my car is ever stolen then I don't want to see it again. No telling what abuse, destruction, or violation it will have seen while in the hands of a thief.
My old 1994 Alpine 8040 still works to this day. I put it on my nova, and it has the proximity sensor (dopplar shift sensor) on it, with all the warning zones that you can adjust. I can arm/disarm the alarm from 3 football fields away (no buildings in the way). Of course, I have to use the super-secret keypad chin trick
as far as an attention getter, I hooked up the light flash relay to the underbody neon on my Fiat, when the alpine was in it. Talk about a light show....heh heh
I really like the use of strobes, not many rides have them hooked up to alarms yet, so its a fairly new enough to get attention. Or at least get some people rubbernecking past your car, thinking it was in an accident

Wow, I had like the first 8040 ever in 1991, it was so new that I had to give it back for futher testing 5 months later. No charge for any of it and they left all the wiring, LEDs, etc though somehow it did something to my cruise control and still does it til this day.
As for the 3/4 mile remote start, why??? Even a 3/4 mile page is kind of useless because even if you are the fastest man on the planet, it will still take you 3 minutes to get there. Plus, you'll be so f&*%ing tired by the time you get there that the thief will knock ya out with one punch.
