I have the deck that sticks 3/4" out of the hole (kit was a scosche) and I hate the look of it. I would much rather have it flush mounted. Who makes the kit to do this? I see Ecklers sell a steel deck bracket, which looks simple and solid, but is it a flush mount? I will likely order it, but if someone has used it that would help me so much. What company and/or part number are flush plastic kits?

uhm I may of missed something, but you said "early C4 deck" in your title post. Are you using a stock CD player?? why would you need a bracket for that? If you're using an aftermarket head unit, someone might help you more if you told what year your car was and what model head unit is sticking out so much. If it is aftermarket, have you looked over the metra kits listed in the FAQ? I did a post a few weeks back about Metra kits for all C4 models, try a search just on "metra" and see what ya get. I never had any protruding head unit issues with metra kits, if that helps. And alot of other people here use them.
Not sure if this is going to help or not, but if you pull the HU out, you can see a piece of black plastic sticking up at the rear of the mount. I cut mine flush with the bottom, and was able to slide the HU back enough to make it flush. My next step was to move it higher in the mount and put a pocket underneath, but teh C6 came along instead

Just ordered and install the flush mount kit from Crutchfield. Had to cut the little piece that sticks up as mentioned above (used a Roto Zip and it knocked it off nice & clean) and it slid right in. Here's a pic....

It's that plastic piece that is obstructing the HU from sliding back all the way; it will need to be cut. Don't worry, your stock HU will mount back in normally with no problems if you need to reinstall it.
Now that Scosche kit you have should have come with both a flush and an extended mounting frame, if not, ditch it and do like snoopdan said and get a Metra kit. You should be able to find one at any local car audio shop or online.
I should have made myself more clear I suppose. Bose is gone. Bye Bye Bose. I have an Alpine single din head unit mounted in a Scosche plastic kit. It sticks out of the dash 3/4" and looks bad. The kit was supposed to have provisions for a flush mount, but did not. I realize that back plastic piece would need to be cut, but when my existing kit won't go back that far, that means I need a new kit.
So the Metra kits will go flush mount you say? I have cut that little back tab off already 2 years ago when I thought this kit was a flush mount. I have lived with it, and hated it since I got it. Looks like it's metra time! (I want it to look like 87CLWY's picture)

I don't think mine's a Metra Kit, it's one that was recommended to me and came from Cruthchfield. It's a three piece set and cost 19.99. I ordered it on-line and it was here in 3 days. The kit comes in three pieces; the holder for din tray, the face plate and a supporting tray; as well as all with all required mounting hardware. I superglued the three pieces together to prevent seperating. Fit and went in fairly nicely. If interested its the Chevrolet Corvette Kit, part # 0903018P.
I have the metra kit but have not installed the head yet. Looking at the pieces it seems that this kit has many options for installs. I'm also looking for a flush mount and from what i can tell the metra kit will be able to do so. I'll read the paper work after work and post my findings.
I hear VrumVrum can set you up with mounts for the early and late C4.
I think he's been pretty busy with a few other projects but has put them to bed and just needs to get down to the shop and make a few parts. A couple of members have been wainting a while.
mine isn't flush, where it sticks out I made a peice with sheet metal to cover it and painted it flat black to match, looks good I think and still out of the way of the 6 speed. If you want that option
