Default Pics Of Progress

Didn't get much done this weekend as work and golf ate up most of it
Installed B-Quiet deadener to the cargo area. I'm going to pull the rear wheels and inner fenders and get the backside of the speaker cavity and whatever i see that could oscillate.

Still have to do all the deadener in and out of the doors, but i do hope to be totally finished this week. The sound just keeps getting better as the interior goes back in. I'm expecting a big dif in the front because there are no door panels on and the aluminum inner panel is hanging loose.
Looking forward to the end and getting back behind the wheel. 2 1/2 months is too long.

looking good
It was over 60 here in Iowa yesterday ( 30 today ) and I got the Vette out for the first time in several months so I know how you feel.
I even had the windows down and the top off. I will still wait a month or so before I tackle the sound deadning prodject to near copy what you have done.

Looks great. I borrowed a 10" sub from a friend yesterday, just to see what it would sound like. I did the deadener in the rear just like your pictures. I wouldn't bother with doing the underside, it didn't rattle on mine, it's actually pretty solid over there.

Also, you have convinced me to buy one of those dash kits too, lol. Stop making me spend money! Where did you buy yours. Did you have the breadbox delete beforehand, or was that done at the same time as the breadbox? Could you do me a favor and measure the delete panel for me? I've been wanting to chuck that thing since I got the car, but can't find dimensions anywhere. I'll replace it with a vinyl covered panel for now since I'm tight on$. Thanks!

How was the B-Quiet deadener to work with? I just ordered 100sq
foot to do the interior of my C5.

Any odor so far? Ive heard a few say it leaves a bad asphalt smell.

How hard was application? What temperature did you apply it in?
Did you double layer in any area's?

How much of a difference have you noticed?

Thanks,

Hey, what thickness are those panels for the 8"s..looks like 1"... I cant decide if I want to do the 8's in the back as well. So im just replacing my 6x9's with 5.25's for now. And i'll probably not even connect them up. Im still planning for either four 12"s or eight 8's, or just one 18" supersub. Unfortunatly I dont know anyone that has gone as far as I want to with such larger drivers, so I have no one to lean on. So im kind of making it up as I go. I still have to make the decision if I want targa top mounting anymore - and thats hard to do. I could most likely squeze 4 12"s back there without removing the targa functionallity, but it will be pushing it, and most likely all sealed enclosures. Unfortunatly it will be trial and error.

Id still like to get dimensions of your plates if you dont mind. If I decide to put a box for eight 8's in the car, I can see stuffing two more in the 6x9 locations!

Well i spent the 1/2 hour it took to add some deadener to the backside of the speaker enclosure. I figure anything to help with the wall density is going to be good for the overall sound. Tomorrow i will do the otherside then start on the doors.

I did the underside because i want more density to the speaker box. I think the half hour per side will be time well spent. Also any transfer of vibration should be reduced slightly. Until you put two 8" subs in back you won't know how much vibration is possible. It's really under control now and when the inner and out door is done i'm sure i will be happy.
As for the dash kit, that was a year long nightmare. I ordered black and when it arrived it was for an auto. Shipped it back and the next one was this grey/black. I contacted them and they told me that was their black and the original was from another source. 6 months had passed to get to that point. I decided to screw it and move on. Well the gauge piece fit like crap. Next was me making the corrections on the piece and sending it back to them to correct their pattern. Now he says he can get me the black again and with the corections. Next one comes and it's the same grey/black. After a year they finally ask if i want my money back so i say yes. All in all i was only out the duty 4X and shipping 3X, so probably a $100. Moral of the story is to stay away from Auto accessory Store based out of NY.
My vette came with a wood dash kit so the delete was already there. When i did the carbon fibre i replaced the fibre board with sheet pvc. I will measure the delete panel tomorrow for you. Here are a couple of pics of the blank. I had to router the back side for the ac vent.

That looks great man! I am definitely doing the 8" in the rear in the near future. I've already done the brown bread. Very happy with it!

Thanks Dan, I really appreciate the heads up on that company, and your willingness to measure that for me.

Yes, i can smell an odor at times. Not sure if is going to stick around as i am not finished.
Application is pretty easy at the 50-60 degress i'm working in.
I added a strip on the rear wall and the cargo floor. I may have completely doubled those large flat panels but i only got 50 feet and wanted to be sure i had enough for the doors and anything i find that could benefit from a piece.
A definite difference, how much, not really sure because the stereo is being installed at the same time. I think it's money well spent none the less.

Nothing wrong with overkill

My two 8'' subs are more than i can handle. I really can't see how others can use large multiple subs with giant amps in a C4. The skin on my face vibrates and blurs my vision when i crank my 8's up
The mounts are 1/2'' plywood with a 5/8'' particle board spacer glued on top.

I've never had a problem with the smell of the brown bread in my car. Wonder if they changed it once or something?
