Radar Detectors

I love it when such a guy thing happens as arguing over which radar detector is better. They're all good, or not, depending on whether you get a ticket, right?
Not only has radar, laser, lidar, AND bumper checks changed and gotten better, so have radar detectors. But not good enough. The "radar" industry hasn't been sitting still over the past 20+ years. And you can thank some companies like GEICO for the best and newest models being out in the community---they give lots of 'em away in almost every state.
I vaguely understand Ka, 'pop' radar, etc., but what it really means is that a fully updated or brand new top of the line detector is only as good as the driver and his/her reaction time, the speed of the car, and the radar being used (as well as the person using it).
I've seen radar where a detector never goes to full on, just keeps beeping as if the radar unit is far, far away. And the ticket is still written.
Face the facts, if you're doing 93 in a 70 for instance, even with race driver reaction times, you may not be able to bring your car down to a speed that won't get you a ticket when the radar detector goes off. That's what today's tech has gotten to in "radar" guns.
When you speed, you take a chance. The detector aids you only up to a point. The see saw battle between "radar" and detectors is now slightly in favor of the "radar".
Didn't rank in the top 4? There were 3 tested! Did you even read the test?
How come you didn't respond to my post about Radar Roy? Thought you were quoting how Roy said it was the best...when I posted you were wrong you deflect with this MotorTrend twist.
You obviously work for Valentine, and the last I checked you were not a supporting member of this forum. If you look at your posts, you ONLY post on radar detector posts trying to sell Valentine products and that's against forum rules.
Compyellow...I'm not arguing the "who's the best" but arguing with Radarking because he's only here to promote Valentine products and I don't think that's right!
And obviously Radarking didn't even read the intention of this post asking for a value radar detector which I responded with the $222 RX65 instead of his $400+ Valentine.

GM should have constructed the C6 like it...All of the wiring and fluids are plumbed through the tube chassis, no "extra" hoses or wires running along the frame or in the bay.

2. Your out on a cool morning / good visiblity with nothing but long straights and many miles to cover... The speed limit is 55 mph... are you going to drive 55 ? Why even own a vette if your going to drive it like your taking your drivers license test ?
Visible detector ? With the V1 I can have it down in a few seconds... I place it just left of the rear view mirror where it is very inconspicious due to the darker window tint at the top. Several times where I have been alerted from the rear and now have a visual on the HP overtaking traffic behind me. I simply take it down and wait for him to pass. Sometimes they even check your dash when they pass... probably wondering where your detector is...
As an ex trucker... if you use the CB it can be very effective for avoiding tickets... the CB antenna is a bit obnoxious though...
• Due to the way that its filters are designed, both BEL units responded to threats faster than competitive detectors, almost twice as fast as the Passport 8500 X50 and Valentine One.
• While all three over-$200 detectors were able to detect a threat at an incredible nine miles (basically at the point where the curvature of the earth factors in), in Motor Trend’s 2005 test, the Passport 8500 X50 demonstrated the greatest long-range sensitivity.
• Of all the detectors tested, only the Radio Shack BEL 895 turned in a perfect score on the all-important over-the-hill test, the most difficult of all the real-world evaluations in this year’s test.
• The Valentine One clearly demonstrated the best laser detection performance but in practical terms, without laser countermeasures, this ability can provide a false sense of security.
• Laser blocking/shifting/jamming is an essential element in building a total protection package and the Blinder X-treme offers the highest level of performance and can be used in conjunction with any radar/laser detector.
• Escort claimed points victory in our previous detector test, with a .1 margin over Valentine One. The results in the 2005 test reflect a shift in grading priorities that reflect both technology and law enforcement trends. While scoring a more modest 78 points this time, the Escort Passport 8500 offers superb performance, but it did not move the bar as far as its competitors.

Since this is all a bit mad-dog, additionally the V-1 is not able to be incorporated into a laser jammer package. I am not attempting to NYAH-NYAH. It's just a point.
I own a RX-65 which was recommended by more testers, when the big three were compared. It's primary differentiating qualities were that it didn't go ballistic over minor matters (less likely to give false alerts), had nearly the same practical range of the V-1
(both of which are less sensitive than the Escort) and was easily programmed.
It fit my speeding profile. Rarely insane but always willing to go. If I went to laser jamming, the only effective way to deal with this LEO piece of @#$%, it will fit in with the required tech.
As far as I can tell the V-1 will give slightly better real world perfomance with a lot of added effort and needed alertness to sort out the crap. This may fit somewhat frenetic driving styles but I want to go somewhat fast, comfortably and not being driven into nervous exhaustion.
I like a touring exhaust note too.
I figure the V-1 guys have straight pipes.
Anyway, I also got my Bel RX-65 for around $250 with shipping. I saved some money for something which will accomplish the tasks I ask to be performed when directly compared to the V-1. All three can do this and there was no reason to grace Mr. Valentine with added gilt.
Frankly, if everyone in SoCal voted for Schwarznegger, it wouldn't influence my choice about this. (Now that may be a NYAH-NYAH.)

You get the same signal on your V1 with arrows. You let off the gas or force a downshift and cross your fingers. When i'm speeding and a cop comes up on me from behind the last thing I want to do is light up the brakelights.
As far as V1 falses, 90% of them are on X band. You can turn xband off. In CA at least, X band is not used by police anymore.
