I have beltronics. Driving in the desert I have detected CHP cops 10 miles away. Freeway 1/2- 2 miles. It detects X, K, Ka, two other bands, Laser and POP.
It has saved me at least over 2k in tickets so far. You find it in Ebay.

I just recently purchased a Beltronics Vector detector about a month ago.. my 1st detector i had was a beltronics that i bought 7 or so yrs ago. unfortunatly, I somehow misplaced it about a year ago. but it worked great for those 6 yrs. Even though it worked great, i was urkin for an upgraded detector. Never considered any other brand except Bel.

Not trying to be smart guy but the officers guns are so good you really don't want to go on the cheap for a detector that will give you a false sense of security and probably beep and drive you nuts all day.

Even with the best detector, that just gives you a "fighting chance" against the more advanced guns using instant on.

I highly suggest V1 http://www.valentine1.com

Think of it as an investment plus it never becomes obsolete like the others - you can update it from year to year.

I am not spouting off, I have had other detectors, Uniden, Bel, Cobra to name a few.

I have got one that I no longer use. Works fine and detects radar + laser.
I finally, finally, finally got smart and started driving the speed limit + 5mph. I do not need it anymore and will sell it to you.
I looked in the garage but can't find it. It is a name brand but can't remember which one. Seriously, I last used it when I drove my 87 up from Houston 2 1/2 years ago.
How's $20 sound? I will find it!

Bla bla bla...Valentine says the world is against him, please pay me $400 for a radar detector that points out every garage door in town...bla bla bla. A radar detector that is always falsing is just as useless as not having one.

Now to your post...I've bought my new BEL RX65 from kbtronics on eBay. Yes it's a brand new detector, but you don't get a BEL warranty for it...and save a ton of cash!! They recently started a website, and you can buy direct from them using PayPal (yes, I hate payhell too, but you have no choice).

http://kbtronix.com/kbtronix/Scripts...idCategory=185

New RX65 I paid $238 shipped, and you can get the new RX55 for $153 plus shipping! They are legit and I have nothing to do with them other than a great ebay experience with them a couple of weeks ago.

Contrary to the Valentine lovers, the RX65 is the only detector so far that reports BOTH POP guns out there. POP is going to be the new toy for law enforcement...and I suspect they are going to make it harder and harder to detect them.

I'm running my 5yr old Cobra and it still serves me well.

I have it mounted inverted against the windshield header just to the left of the RVM. This gives a very stealth mount yet with a clear view front & rear.

I wired it into the power to the mirror's map light so that it is on/off with ignition.

It has warned me of Leo's presence on many occasions and my vigulance in the RVM has also saved my a$$ too. My Cobra is simply one tool in the arsenel or "counter measures".

They can all say what they want about this detector or that one... after many... V1 gets my vote... why ? because it has saved me many times, and some of those times with very little warning... A V1 is something you get aquaited with... after a while you can tell real trouble from other stuff... the arrows are great...

the website is
www.valentineone.com

Go to V1 moments archives...

No radar detector is infalible...

I have had a 8500 for a while, I love it. Might go over to a V1 now that I found out you can turn off bands.

It probably dosen't but I've driven with mine all over the place.
It rarely falses plus I always have mine on the most sensitive mode.
Heck you can even program bands like X out completely if you desire.

I've used a V1 for three years, also used a Passport and some cheapo detectors.

Despite the fact that some on here have a hard on for Mike Valentine, I don't think it's the best deal. Best Detector? Probably. The arrows are hard to go without.

But the V1 falses much more than the Passport. Even with x-band turned off and set in "Logic mode" which does absolutely nothing. The new POP updated V1 is garbage, I won't send mine in for that upgrade.
