Three way?!!

er...what did you think I was talking about?
I've always liked the sound of a good solid set of 6x9 3-way speakers, and have had them in all my other cars. This is my first C5, and it seems everybody here puts in 6.5" comps in their doors. I've NEVER been a 'tweeter' guy, and the tweets and midranges on the 3-ways I've had have always been exactly the amount of highs that I want.
2 questions: Is it possible to install 6x9's in C5 doors? Or should I step in line with everybody else and go with some 6.5" components?

I have them in my C5, Amazing!
Focal makes good stuff.I wonder if CDT might not be a more affordable alternative.
Then again, he doesn't like highs, so either way, we are wasting his cash.
I am sure 6x9s will fit. Just make a baffle to hold it.

Bogus, Et. Al: Any chance 6x9's wouldn't fit? I understand that I'll need to make or buy an MDF mounting plate, drilled to fit the particular speakers, but I'm not sure how big the speaker cavity in the door is, or how deep. The FAQ only says "You can pretty much fit any size speaker in the doors of a C5". Maybe I'll drop some 18" subs in the doors.
Thanks! (I'll look into Focals and start counting my son's piggy bank change.)

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

Here's my thinking so far...maybe somebody can help me fill in the gaps:
Alpine CDE-9852 HU (iPod ready, 1 pre out...is all I need because...)
Alpine ERE-G180 11 band Graphic EQ (L-R preouts, Sub out w/ Xover and gain control) or
Kenwood KGC-6042A Graphic..because the Alpine is discontinued.
(undediced on amplifier. Want 400-500 to a sub, and at least 150 each to the doors. I'd like it all in 1 amplifier...so a 4 channel with 2 channels bridged to the sub would be perfect. I'm thinking between 800-1000W amp would work...any suggestions?
Sub: Elemental Designs 13Ov.2 (12", 600watts) in a flush-mount box from CorvetteCarAudio.com or other.
Doors: I don't know...mounting plates from CorvetteCarAudio.com or other.
So really, I'm just undecided on the doors and the amp. I shouldn't need a cap or anything truly fancy.

Perhaps my last car wasn't hooked up properly, but both used the same amp and JL Audio sub...the only difference was the EQ in the last, last car.
Any head units that have an integrated graphic or flexible parametric EQ that is more than just Bass and Treble? I'm willing to look elsewhere and stray from Alpine...which has been my deck of choice for 10 years.
I can attest to the 16Ov.2 that Greg (Pentavolvo) has. That thing amazed me. It used a smaller box than I expected, hit tighter than I expected but still went down low like I thought it would. A real good choice since he has the room for a 15".
So, I think you will be happy with the 13Ov.2. If it comes down to not finding an amp you like that can supply the power, I bet the 13Kv.2 would work just fine in a Vette. I know my 11Kv.2 hits pretty well and I'm at the minimum recommended power right now. The two 11Kv.2's in my truck are getting fed at the high end of the power band and they REALLY hit much harder.
Lots of options but these amps are gonna have huge footprints. What are you goals for the system unless you want groudn pounding bass I think 300wrms might be a better goal for your sub and it woudl get you into a smaller footprint

Also, pentavolvo and DuramaxDave, I'll be looking into a more flexible HU as opposed to a dedicated EQ...I'm not sure if I could mount both the HU and a 1/2 DIN EQ in the dash without modifications anyway.
I'm also considering, in lieu of a massive 4 channel amp, to get either two 2 channel amps or one 2 channel and one 1 channel. Once you get into lower powered (600watts or so), the options are baffling. I've had Rockford amps, but now the prices are a little prohibitive.
I'm looking to spend no more than $1200 for the components (HU, Doors, Amp, Sub) ...and have $500 budgeted for the box, sound deadening, mounting plates, and wiring.
The ED 130v.2 is $195 from their website...so that leaves me roughly $900 left for the HU and Amp(s).

Thanks for the link...I'll definitely keep it in mind.
