Geez Dave,
You'll have to bring the truck just to tow the Chevelle and your boss's C6

Never have heard them in a car environment, but about 5 years back when we went to the HT show in NYC we heard a pair of Red Rose bookshelf speakers hooked to nothing but a tube amp and a Sony SACD player. They had planar tweets and they sounded absolutely WONDERFUL, among the best we heard at the show(the full JM Labs Grand Utopia setup is kinda tough to top!). IIRC, planar tweets are power hungry little buggers. I also wonder if their wide dispersal pattern would work in a car environment. It has obvious advantages in that it's difficult to get tweeter placement right for directional units, but the sound might be too diffused to overcome environmental noise. Interesting stuff.
That is from another post (scott.fx) that is currently up. But it reminded me that someone asked what type of drivers were in my white Talon TsiAWD. Those are it, the JM Labs Utopias
I'll try and post some pics that I took of Wiz's car tonight.

Sorry about the late posting..
Let me start off buy saying what a great time me and my family had..
You guy's rock ( yes pun intended)..
Where do I begin??
Let my start off buy saying that each of the cars and trucks were awesome in there own right.
We were a very divers group that's for sure..

Jay's car is the cleanest sounding (and looking) thing I have ever heard with all the speakers in his front stage I Just say WOW.......Then when he turns up the bass ****...Well you no...You can tell that he and his daughter are people who care about the SQ of the music that they listen to..There is a lot of work in this car. I told him that the PIC he has posted buy no means do this car justice....
Then there was Dave's truck that is one beast for sure...I like the 2 G of mp3 space he has available. This thing is the coolest of all work type trucks. A very good sounding system for sure. I no the "65" is going to rock.....
Jeff showed up with one bad mother of a C-4...Boy I wish he would have had his wallet with him I would have liked to see that bad boy lay one down on the way out.....
He had some very cool old school Orion amps that where SWEET.....
With all the cool upgrades under the hood this thing looked like it was run in the 9's while it was sitting there..
Jack showed up (Dave's buddy) with his Truck and a few brand new L-5's good pounding truck. He had the coolest speaker wire. He was running studio hookup wires with quick disconnects.
I barely got to meet and talk with DPG but what a nice and clean ZO6. I didn't have a chance to here his system but it looked good.. A nice clean install that's for sure. He has some very trick head light also.
Then we have the wild man...........Greg you are a nut.......I have a question for the group.......Has any one seen 1" MDF flex?????? HOLEY CRAP I did.......Those 15's are wicked....
This stang went SSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOO low I could not even believe it The center of his 1" thick box was flexing and visibly vibrating so much I was waiting for the thing to just blow apart.......IT WAS WAY COOL.....I was digging on the tire shredding doughnuts when we were leaving the bar and my son who was in Greg pass. seat was loving it also.
Here are a few pic. from the weekend..

I have a tailgater....

Lots of glass work...

Jeff's C-4 going 200mph just sitting there....

Then there's MR. stang

The box looks bleary in this shot because it was FLEXING......

Very cool....I could barly hold the cammera...
All in all we had a great time we are in for the next one....
We didn't smash are car this time...

Wiz...wow nice pictures. That was crazy to see the 'action' shot of Penta's box flexing.

By the way, my buddy's name is Jake and not Jack. But I'm sure he'll appreciate the compliments on his system. I use those Neutrik connectors on the gear I have when running sound for bands and such. Jake thought it would be cool to use a couple in his car audio stuff. They are awesome and can support thousands of watts.

I bet next year's event in IA will be crazy. I want to see more smoke shows from Penta.

Wiz awesome pics man the excursion shots look awesome, and at that in a ford its crazy just wait till i get that in a chevy (i was lookin at C5s again when I got home from the meet, financing 20k and bein in school is gonna be brutal).

Knewblew and Wiz cars are simply amazing in there own ways. The clarity in Knewblews car is disgusting you can tell he put alot of thought into how he did this.

Wiz's car is just rediculouly loud he can talk about my box flexing but his is louder i just get a lil lower.

DPGs car as always while a smaller setup is suprisingly potent and a very accurate/clean sound. Deff the way a budget oriented setup should come out, awesome job

Duramax Daves truck is a very tight install all stealth with 3 amps behind the seats and the subs underneath, hopefully he can put some pics up for everyone. Sounds very good, move the 6500s up front though lol.

Daves buddys truck sounded awesome the L5's pounded with authority too bad he didnt have em ported, his kicker components sounded great as well.

Jeff's C4 is a beast sounds mean as hell and extremely clean I was shocked, hopefully his stereo will be even more killer very very soon.

As to my box flexing yes it does flex so i guess I need more bracing or just something crazier for next year.

So who all thinks I need to make the big 3 the bigger 3 in my car haha?

It was great seeing all of you guys I had a blast, next year more rubber will be dropped as if enough wasnt this year by myself, I figured the tires are a year old so its ok

YEah everyone system put my sutff in my C4 to shame.. LOL

I was out the garage messing with the HCCAs.. I disconnected the 8s and used one HCCA for each side of fronts.. in the mono config..

If I crank it up now it is ALOT CLEANER but I am wonderign if the eD would be better..LOL

Anyway I also found that the 4" mid ont he passenger was not hooked upa nd it has been that way for a while it seems.. so it sounds a bit stronger now.. LOL

I need a test disc so I can measure the voltage coming out the HCCAs before I actually sell them... OR not.. Really not sure. with them in the current config I should be seeing 200W per side, Although I want to use minimum of space so they may have to go..

I thought about switching the components front to back. I've listened to the CDT's for awhile and it would be cool to listen to the eD's for some time. Then I can make a decision on which to keep where.

I have also thought about switching the rears to coaxials and putting what comes out of the truck into the Chevelle. I know at least the 11Kv.2 I pulled from the Corvette is going into the Chevelle and I'll probably put a second one in there for good measure.

Penta...I vote for triple 15's. It'll fit....I'm almost sure of it.

Yes I think you need to go to a 1-0 big three my freind....
That thing was breathing real deep......
You should brace that box before you get hit in the back of the head with flying shrapnel.......

Default talk about a ****ty day

Sorry to rant, but i figured this would be the best place to do it.

Lets start off todays events with my beater getting broken into. Yup, got broken into in the middle of the day at my office, in front of office windows and no one saw anything. This is in front of windows where everyone at works knows when you are coming and going, yet didnt see a break in. They busted the little window on the driver side back door. unlocked it that way, then unlocked the front door. tore my dash apart, couldnt get the stereo out. and i come to the car and find the glass on the ground and see the car molested. The stereo was a piece of crap anyway.(this is the 2nd beater that ive had broken into btw, getting a little old. i think i should just leave a $20 bill behind the faceplate, so that they can just take that and not destroy anything.) anyway, i get home and make a temp window from some left over mdf, i knew it would come in handy Greg So i just popped it in after some cutting adn trimming sealed it off with some rope caulk and its better than the window, haha.

But wait the fun didnt stop there today. On the way home from chicago after dropping the gf off at school. My tranny goes in the beater. without any warning. As im pulling off the exit ramp onto manheim, the car sputters and just wont accelerate. I think oh **** great, there goes the tranny and i at least got the chance to get off the exit ramp and pull off to the side of the road. So instead of paying a tow truck, i think im just going to pull the car home using a truck and some tow cables. Im not that far from home, maybe 3 miles. Hopefully i wont get towed by OHare people. Oh and also, on the way home from my dead beater, as we start pulling into our townhouse community,my dad and i start to hear somethign in the tire. We pull into the drive way adn discover a big bolt smack dab in the middle of the tread of the tire. at least its not in the sidewall. but can my luck get any better i mean come on. throw me a freakin bone here.

ok rant is over. tomorrow is another day

DPG...that just plain sucks. Sorry to hear about your "luck" yesterday. But like you said, today is another day. Things come in threes it seems (break-in, tranny, bolt in tire). So good things must come in threes as well (I forsee new window, better stereo, a Procharger). Don't ask why I thought Procharger....just figured it would be a good thing for your Z06

Anyways...thanks for sharing. Hope you have a terrific day today.

if it was a break in into the vette, than maybe i would consider a procharger, but its the winter beater, so just a new window. Luckily, the stereo still works in the beater. Yes today is another day. I have to check out the car sometime tomorrow and see if its really the tranny or maybe just a vaccum line. cause it gave out without any warning.

The "meet" must have jinxed allot of us. I get back to work on Monday to find out were are "restructing" the work systems. I'm no longer under the maintenance dept and now I'm procurement and supply management. Who knows if I'll have job in the near future
Then Monday night my house was vandalized. Hell, I didn't even noticed until my neighbor said something. Some moron kids shot at our houses with paintballs. I call the police to get a report done and they just told me to wipe it down....WTF. If I shot a paintball at their cop cars and told them just to wipe it down they would beat me to a pulp When I called the cops back and asked them to put down the doughnut so they can fill out a report they didn't think that was funny at all.
It gets worse.......but that's another story

Yeah, now they'll sit in front of my house. Not to catch the moron kids but to get me

Don't get me wrong, I love cops despite all the tickets I have received (except the tinted window tickets, those tickets are bogus (sorry Bogus )). I just did not like the response I got last night. Today's moron kids turn into tomorrow's criminals
If my daughter did what those kids did, the cops better get her before I do. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.
As kids, we would have never done that. If we happened to break something (i.e. baseball through window) we would go to the house (nearly peeing ourselves) and apologize. We would usually get yelled at (if it was a friends house a small beating was delivered). Then we would go home to get our big beating by our parents.
Today, the offending kid would run and deny everything. The victim might contact the offending kid's parents only to be yelled at. Then the cops get involved. Then lawyers..... In the end, the kid gets away with it. The kid learns he can get away with bad things. One of those future bad things will turn out to where the kid will not get away with it. Kid goes to jail.
So whose Parents did the right thing? Was it the latter parents who let their kids do anything or was it the parents who gave some tough love?
I have never laid a finger on Katie.... yet. While she was a child I told her how it is. I gave her rules that were spanking offences (such as running out into the street, playing with matches, touching a gun, etc.) She had seen me beat the crap out of my cats for doing things that they knew they could not do (it was almost always the male cat, go figure) She knew the was NO second chance. I've seen her run towards the road full sprint after a ball and then her little voice would whisper...spanking...and she would stop on a dime. I've seen her burst into tears when I asked her if she wanted to touch my gun (I happened to be cleaning my 9mm upstairs and she came up from the basement). To this day, she is still reluctant to ask to use a lighter. To this day, she still knows that Mom or Dad will stick a shoe up her butt if she crosses that "line". Will she ever cross that line, yep, sure she sure will....and my foot willl be waiting

are we off topic
