we are always off topic here haha but hey thats the love we have over here... hell when i was younger if i did something wrong i sure as hell knew about it and i think i came out half way decent
sorry to hear about the troubling news wiz and knew. the cops i dealt with couldnt have been nicer in my situation. i guess its either hit or miss with em. when i was younger, i wouldnt even think about doing something wrong without recourse
KnewBlew...I agree with you about our society today and the "rules" we have for raising kids. I was just talking about this last week with some buds at work. Anyway, it seems too difficult to parent any more. Kids know they can get away with more either by pushing over the parents or crying wolf (ie. talk to DCFS or someone else about spanking, inappropriate behaviors when there wasn't any, etc) and parents are automatically assumed guilty.
I think society as a whole is getting away with more and getting more for free. Less and less capital punishment means we get away with murder...literally anymore. People can sue for just about anything...even being morons. I mean, I never thought a person could get away with suing McDonald's because they got fat from eating there too much (luckily that person lost) or winning because you spilt your own coffee on you while driving away from a drive through. Hello...coffee...it's HOT.
I don't have kids and won't for awhile...but I'm scared to think what it will be like when I do. I believe we are getting to the point where kids parent the parents. I think you have taught your daughter to respect you and I bet she knows that you will be there for her. You know that she will screw up and yet you will still love her. Yeah, she will deserve some punishment but you will still love her.
I remember a time I blew up the tranny in my 70 Chevelle. I was mad from something and decided to go hot rodding the car. Well a Saginaw tranny behind a decent 454 with 4.10's in the rear axle meant bye bye to the tranny with a 3500 RPM clutch drop. I limped it home and felt terrible about what I had done. I thought Dad would be upset and completely disappointed. He knew I felt terrible and he showed me love by not screaming and carrying on. He said "you know what you did and now know not to let your head get to you when you are feeling mad. I'll help you pull the tranny and put in the new one. You know YOU are buying the new tranny."
I learned alot that day about parental love. I respect dad very much and am glad for everything he and mom have taught me. Yeah...this is OT...but I'm glad to hear from you guys on how you deal with life.
not to get off topic again. but any one know what might have happened to my tranny. its an auto from a 92 corolla. 140,000 miles. it went without warning and basically park doenst even hold the car in place. i can push the car while its in park and it will start to roll. any ideas, could it be a broken vacum line, or is the tranny toast

Are you sure the spiders didn't brake in the rear end?????when you put the car in gear does the speedo move and is the drive shaft turning?
If the rear end is still good then you broke the jake shaft....Its the shaft that conects the clutch ***. to the front slip yoke in the back of the trans......I would pull the drive shaft out of the car and see if the shaft comes with it, if it is broke look for a new trans that one will be full of sh**......140,000 is a long time on a trans .........
Good luck bro.....let us no what you find...
I'm bad I should have looked at the post a little closer...
The pro. is the diff. pin or spiders more then likely. I but he is going to tell us that the speedo is moveing .....
Not that they made one in 92 but I thought it was a Cordoba. I didn't realize it was foreign...
My job might be in jeoperdy because of Americans buying so much from the Far East. The mill I work in produces paper that is used to make cardboard boxes. China has been making paper mill faster than rabbits screw. China needs to make so many cardbord boxes to ship all their products to us. China is consuming our recylced cardboard to the point that recylced cardboard (our raw material) is getting expensive. With the rising prices and all the American factories that are being shutdown (Ford is letting 75,000 workers go ) my job is at risk
This is another thing today's young adults don't seem to understand. If they keep buying foreign (I know some items we have no choice) they will not have jobs in the future.
I agree with you...I support buying US when all possible. What I don't like though is when people starting ranting about buying GM or Ford or Chrysler and not buying Mitsubishi or Nissan or ....
I love GM and I have always had them. That said, my mom's Maxima was made in TN. I drive by the Mitsubishi plant in Bloomington, IL and see all those Eclipses and such being made by good ol' UAW.
I am willing to bet my Chevy truck is more foreign than my mom's Nissan. So like Wiz said...help a UAW brother out...buy a Mitsubishi Eclipse

All though it may be assembled in the U.S. all the profite goes to the mother land.....
The plant in Bloomington, IL was once called Diamond Star Motors (DSM). It was a joint venture between Plymouth, Eagle, and Mitsubishi....a UAW site. I've been to the plant, if I remember you can see it off of I-74. My Dad retired from JohnDeer after 25 years there as a UAW worker. Right in his UAW magazine he received I saw that the Laser, Talon, and Eclipse were made by UAW worker. There was a few Ford and Chevys not made by UAW. I'm proud that the fact that the two cars I purchased new put food on the tables of UAW families. I also know my other Talon (used) was UAW made. I'm not positive but I believe my 1991 GMC Jimmy was made by UAW workers Anyone know?
Anyhow, I'm very proud to have served this country (5 years USAF) and I'm very proud to search for Made In America tags . I'm currently wearing American made steel toed boots, it is a bitch to find shoes made in the USA
yea i try to buy american too, but i couldnt pass up buying a beater for $300. I will see what the car starts to do, or trys to do. i'll try several things and let you guys know what happens when i try these things. if the splines were bad, would they just give out without warning like that?
http://www.uaw.org/solidarity/01/1001/union08.html
If you go to this link there is a adress at the bottom to send a self addressed envelope to and they will give you a list of american made products...
To awnser your ? Dave if the spline striped out you would here it.
hmmmm. ok one more thing wiz. when i rev the car in all the gears its just revs, no noise or anything other than the motor. The only noise i get is when i put it back in park. Does that mean anything? i know a lot of questions
