That's what everyone keeps saying but nobody mentions a particular brand/model...
Okay, I tried here, but...
I have the thing in my hand. There doesn't seem to be a brand name on it. It's called a CD to Cassette Adapter, and there's a number on it: 34126. And a patent number: 5.586.090
Made in China (there's a surprise)...
I bought it at a Walmart store in Florida last year.
FWIW, I doubt there is anywhere near as much difference in quality between one or another brand of cassette adapter as there is between brands of FM transmitters. The cassette adapters are basically just a cassette tape deck playback head that's mounted in a cassette cartridge, such that it can reverse the magnetic/electrical translation process and "talk back into" the playback heads of the cassette deck. There's no active circuitry in the thing, just a coupla passive supporting components, and a gear train to keep the transport system in the deck happy. One cassette adapter is likely to behave nearly the same as any other, I'd guess.
a major competitor of dr. don's charges $30 less for the same service. type in these exact words on ebay search, "90-on UP Corvette Delco Bose CD Repair".......trust me he does a great job. did it for my '90 gold. does all the updates, improvements (including the cd not getting hosed up over big bumps on the road) and laser re-alignment.

Type in "tape adapter ipod" on that favorite auction site. Over 300 hits. All you need is to find one that adapts to your IPOD, MINI or NANO etc. Countless generic brands out there but if you can find the real "apple" product Id go with it.

Hope this helps.
Be well,

Thanks Steve! Sorry to be a pest but the reason I was asking what brand of adapter people were using was because I actually used the search feature and found a thread in the archives where on member said he had problems with a Belkin and another had no problems with a Sony. That was about it. An acquaintance mentioned one he had bought at Radio Shack worked "pretty well" but that's kind of subjective. I had also previously done a search of eBay as Goldcylon suggested and found the same plethora of adapters. I was hoping someone could supply a known good source and now SJW has. Off to Walmart for me. Thanks to all and sorry to hijack the thread from the original poster...:o
OK, bought a Phillips brand cassette adapter at Walmart today for $10. The iPod sounds fantastic. "You get what you pay for" is not always true. In terms of the quality of the sound, the DLO TransPod which cost approximately ten times as much, doesn't even come close. Thanks for the info, guys!

A real "ah ha" moment. Love my iPod. Use it in the air a lot, use it to souce my garage system. But not in the car (any car). My daily driver has a cassette, so do both C4's! Thanks everybody for the tip. I ordered mine just now.
We also have an FM transmitter for XM radio in my wife's SUV. Not a great quality sound and I would not choose it again.
basically any casette adapter is gonna work the same. Now the other option is a hardwired fm modulator you will literally have the best sound possiable and zero noise

Yes, I installed a 6 disc changer in my previous LT1 and it was the type that spliced into the antenna cable. With the base Delco AM/FM/Cassette the sound was very good. I hadn't seem a RF modulator for MP3 players that worked like that (but I didn't do an exhaustive search either), just the type that broadcast to the antenna. The convenience of the cassette adapter and capacity of these MP3 players makes me reluctant to go back to burning compilation CDs...
the one i always use/used is the audiovox one circuit city sells. You can probally find some cheaper ones on ebay, but idk if the quality will lack or not. The audiovox one has always worked great for me, we have on in my gf's car and listen to the ipod almost daily and it works great. Another nice piece is this http://sonicelectronix.com/item_6794.html it allows you to pipe the sound from the dock connector then run the rcas to the rf modulator and it will also charge the ipod, i use these cables in all my cars
