I just did a minor revamp. Removed a few old threads that don't really apply any more and tried to group the threads by topic a bit. Hoping that makes it easier for folks to find stuff.

Please do not ask questions in this thread, the purpose of this thread is to act as a repository of thread links to answer frequently asked questions, not to answer them. As I will not answer questions in this thread I would ask that if you need information these links do not supply please start a new thread or post your question in one of the linked threads. Lazy installers that don't want to look things up will tell you this, as will Crutchfield advisors that flat out don't know. You do NOT need a Cleansweep no matter what they say. NEW INFO - STOCK AMP TRIGGER WIRE IN HARNESS!! 3-17-2009
The white wire in B3 of the 24 pin harness will work as an amp trigger. It has a delayed turn off and early turn on so the factory amp is alive for chimes. This is only for if you are adding an amp to a stock head, if you put in an afermarket head use the amp trigger from that.

I recently added a really obnoxious note at the top of the FAQ since installers with dubious qualifications keep suggesting Cleansweeps.

Also added a couple of other links in the last week so I thought I'd give the thread a bump to bring it to notice.

 

I bought a Peripheral GMCO module to install a Kenwood DNX7100 in my C6. GMCO was advertised for the non Bose non Onstar base system that I have. The instructions say to cut off the RCA connectors for a non-Bose system and hook up the high output speaker connections instead. The Chevy manual shows only low level inputs to the U66 amp. Is Peripheral that far out to lunch?

Has anyone added the 6 CD Changer to a C6 convertible (2008) with nav? - Part # 17802225 - I read recently that the unit supports MP3s although it’s not advertised that way.
I’m curious where the harness is (left or right storage bin and if anyone can confirm that it can play MP3s.

I just want to thank everyone who posts on this site. I recently installed a factory OEM navigation unit in my 2005 C6 Coupe that was equipted with the Bose 6 disk changer. There are alot of posts reference this mod and i found this site to be a great source of information.

I documented the install to help anyone else out there thinking about doing the same install.

Some how I just can't get info on this and I know it has be be a common problem. I replaced the bose radio with a Pioneer AV high end head unit, brand new, (last years top of the line). . The reception is poor at best. We replace the head unit twice, tried exterior antennas and still FM reception is poor to non existant.

Can you point me into the righ direction?? I have heard of powetr noise , antena placment , all kinds of things but not discussion of what the problem realy is and the solution.

Thanks Mike, The radio and sound are great from the Xm or the Ipod but the FM is non-existant

 

I would like to add that the GMOS-04 from Metra doesn't work with the Kenwood 8120 or any other 5V or+ preout HU, because this device is only design to up to 4V.
When more than 4V are detected the unit goes to save mode....
I am returning mine...
