Hey guys, jsut wondering why everyone seems to hate the bose so much. Don't get me wrong, its no competition system, but it doesn't seem that bad. I went out last week, before I picked up my car, and bought like $3k in new equip...Now I picked up the car and am almost regreting that because the bose sound pretty good and I could have been half way to the blower with that money. Just curious to see what others think.
Are you worried the added weight of the sound system is going to slow you up?
Kind of..by the time I put in the sub, the enclosure, amps and rack, I figure its like 125-150lbs. Thats why I am really starting to question it. Also like I said, I could be half way to the blower with all that cash.
There are many pretend audiophiles and those that would like to pose as one. The Bose system although not the best is just fine and a decent system for car audio.

I bought an used (06) LT2. I don't think it has the Bose system in it and I was planning on replacing it with an after market one when I purchased it. The problem is the one that is in there sounds pretty damm good to me and I'm finding it hard to justify spending the money. I'm not claiming to have the best ear in the world but I've been playing music for years! Short of pulling out the speakers, is there any way to tell if the LT2 have a Bose or Delco system?

I rather spend the money on a blower and live with the bose system which is fine
If Bose spent half as much money on R&D as marketing, then they could produce products that make music. Their product just makes noise. They have a huge hump designed in the slope to make increased db's at about 80-100hz. This gives the appearance of "bass", which makes many people think they are getting good quality. My audio dealer keeps a few Bose products on hand just for comparison's sake. I'll spare you the details, but at the end of the day, you can always get a lot better product than Bose for less money. That goes for car audio, home audio and the table top wave crap they make.
You did the right thing, don't regret it.
I will be doing the same very soon to my '09 when I get some $$ for the right equipment.

125-150lbs! Are you using deleted uraninum equipment? I have a 750w system in my car with 2 amps, a JL Stealthbox, front components and rear fills. Havent weighed it but Im sure everything will come in under 50lbs.
And I did add a S/C also to keep the weight/Hp ratio in check.

Maybe I am overestimating, but the 3/4 mdf for my enclosure is heavy as hell...I am guessing about 60-70lbs, then the sub is 18lbs, the amps, wiring , comps etc...I guess I am just spinning my wheels. I pulled the trigger on all this stuff and when I bought the material for the enclosure last night and felt the weight of it, I kind of freaked..

I am not an authority, but my guess is if your speaker covers have Bose written on them, then you have a Bose system. If they don't have, you probably don't have the Bose. That would be the easiest way to tell. I am sure there are other ways too.

Hi,
You're not going to like my review and may considers me a poser or pretender.
I spend a lot of money on good sound. I have vintage McIntosh tube gear, modern tube gear, handmade SACD/CD players, modern turntables, etc. One of the main reasons I bought our new house was it has a separate structure that I converted into a sound room and had it professionally designed. I like good sound.
I read a number of positive reviews, on this site, about the Bose system. I expected it to be mid-level based upon the opinions expressed. The first time I turned it on, I was shocked with how bad I considered it to sound. I thought something must have been set poorly at the factory and went through all the audio settings. I did some adjustments and still thought it sounded really bad. Haven't turned it on since. I've played it less than 10 total minutes.
Will GM please send me a refund check?
The good news is my Vette sounds great (love the M2W) and I'd rather listen to my Vette than a stereo.
Just my opinion,
Jeffrey

Bose in the Vette is ok. I don't really care that much in a Vette anyway since I have the top down most of the time and nothing sounds really great at that point. Besides, it interferes with the VetteMusic!
I will say (tho is pains me to) that my wife's 08 retractable roof Sebring has a Boston Acoustics system that is the best stock system I have ever heard.

Anyone who has spent the money and time to create a professional sound room in their home has my respect and I will listen to their opinion on a soundsystem. I say this because I built a recording studio in my guesthouse and i KNOW what a pain it is to get it just so.
The Bose in my old Z sounded good. The Bose in my Vette is nowhere near as good a sounding system as what was in the Z.

Nothing on the speakers covers but I also have an Audi that I know has a a Bose system and it doesn't say anything on it either. Doesn't matter. The sound in the Vett is much better than the Audi anyway.
Eventually, I may replace it.
I have an '06 without steering wheel controls. Disregarding the sound quality, which is poor. Here is why I am dumping the Bose system:
1. No ipod integration.
2. You can only see the artist and song title while in XM briefly, then you have to push a button.
3. You cannot change the radio station while in navagation.
4. No video capabilities.
5. MP3 is tough to get working properly.
6. Volume difference between XM and the other mediums is ridiculous.
7. Cannot install custom wallpaper.
8. It was expensive.
9. Upgrading navigation is expensive.
10. Max volume on XM is too low.
There are other good reasons but I'm tired of typing. GM should not offer this crappy system in any of their vehicles.
