I have shared that link in the past and I have tuned my system using pink noise and apps as described in the article. If done correctly your sound will be much improved. Most people have no idea how to properly set an EQ and typically follow a pattern of a U-shape or some slope pattern. Any kind of visual pattern typically means you are doing it wrong. Each frequency needs to be adjusted independently. If done correctly, your EQ settings will visually appear to be all over the place with no correlation from one frequency to the next when looking at your EQ. The correlation between frequencies should be audible. Pink noise and a RTA app help you see what you are hearing so that you can properly set your EQ.
Too bad my HU only has a 3 band parametric..but I'll get the most out of it until I can put the real system in place. Need to start somewhere. It sounds better already once I set the pots and sealed and deadened the rear speakers. I'm used to my home stereo..which is pretty good. Cars are a PITA to get right.
Your RTA might not be set up or configured properly. This happened to me the first several times I tried to get tuning. My RTA was moving with what I thought was noise around the house, but it was not getting input from the microphone, so in essence, I was wasting my time.
So for another 150 i can trade my alpine for a pioneer DEH80
I remember this deck because i think its the one i had in my jeep and is possibly the best single din one you can get as far as sound quality and tuning capability.
This alpine i have is totaly not tunable..only thing i have to do is hack into the alpine harness to adapt the alpine amp to it..
I knew once i started down this path...what would happen.
