For sure need to see the back of the tweeter. The speaker literature says there's an "integrated inline crossover" but do not show a pic of it. There needs to be a capacitor of some kind on the positive side to prevent full signal going to it. Maybe it's not directly on the tweet, but somewhere along the run of wire, there needs to be one. If full signal did go to it (and has been) there is zero doubt in my mind that killed it. Good news is caps are super cheap. Tweeters...not so much. The wire used looks to be quality wire, so that's also good news.

I believe I rand 14 gauge if not mistaken. I will be tearing down the passenger side tonight or tomorrow and take pics of the speaker.
Hey OP, I know where you can get a JL XD 1000/5v2 for $525. That is a phenomenal amp and would make a NICE upgrade along with what ever speakers you would like to install. Just looking out for you. https://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum...udio-sale.html

Thank you. I believe the first purchase should be speakers. Do you recommend anything with the amp I currently have? Anything that will future proof when I decide to get that amp? Like I said the one tweeter is blown and I will most likely do my passenger speaker adapter today.
If you know you will eventually upgrade amps, then you will want a speaker set that can handle the power of the new amps rating. Almost ALL new speakers are 75W RMS capable. That seems to be the benchmark now-a-days. My advice is to buy the BEST speakers you're willing to pay for and then equip the amp to drive them.

From my understanding 2 ohm speakers are better then 4 ohm? Is this correct?
Not "better" per se...they typically handle more RMS power than a 4 ohm. Having the choice in resistance gives you more options to play with. I will say the majority of 2 ohm speakers are typically 100+ RMS watts rated, where as the 4 ohm stay around 70-80W. That is not an absolute statement as there are examples of 4 ohm speakers running 100+ RMS rating. So which to buy really comes down to how much power your amp puts out at the desired ohm load. Matching components are what you're after. But I will say that power rating is directly related to volume output. More power = more volume. Simple as that.
Well after much consideration and research. I plan on doing the speakers. On a financial level it only makes sense. I will be purchasing these products.
I believe to my limited knowledge these will go well with my current amp. I just hope the rear speakers mounting depth will clear. I have read many C5 members had put in 6.5 inch speakers and will not clear because of the fuel tank.I will find out. Now to research what I do with crossovers. Probably end up getting a tune at some point. I thank all of you for your advice and knowledge.
Cool man. Just let us know how they sound after break-in and let us know if you're happy with them.
Never knew there was a period for speakers to break-in. Would that be like a few hours a day for a week at different volume levels. I told you I did not know what I was doing. You guys are great thank you.
Thank you.
I have much to learn. I know my 5 channel amp settings are jacked out. i just want to reset everything after I put the speakers in. I will update on my follies.
My new resr speakers hit the tank but i added a spacer and insulation tape which raised them a little more than 1/8 inch..they hit the grills but who cares..in my case they are useless..you have a coupe so they will be...more useful

My sepakers have finally "broken in" which caused me to re-tune them today. We're for sure on the right path, but we need a few more hours to get her screaming.
