Another question for the experts. I received all my speakers and will be installing today or tomorrow. i was going over the manual on my head unit. I see the HU has a crossover menu. Should I even mess with that given the amp powers the speakers? Also crossovers came with the component speakers. Confusion has set in.
How are you setting them up? Running everything through the HU is perfectly acceptable when no DSP is involved. Just run me through how your install is setup. Meaning HU RCA out to amp, amp out to speaker crossovers or direct to speakers. HU direct to speakers, but RCA out to sub amp, etc.

Speakers off the amp via the crossovers that came with them. I assume the DSP on the head unit is useless because I am running the speakers off the amp.
If I need to start a new thread on this, please let me know. I am wondering where a good place on a C5 coupe is to install the speaker crossovers.
Doing a search was not to productive.
Not at all. That's ideal actually. The DSP controls the OUTPUT signal to the amp. That means the DSP will have full control as intended. The good news is, anyone with a microphone and RTA can help you tune it.
Alright, started the project around 10 a.m. I just buttoned it all up. I figured out the crossover placement as you can see.
I want to say I am extremely pleased with these speakers. Fronts and rears sound so much different from the lightning audio speakers. Now I will play with all the settings on HU and amp. I want to thank all of the input from Pb82 Ronin and mifi2000. You both have helped greatly. I may be asking questions on crossovers settings and all the settings on the amp. I would at least try to learn before I pay someone to tune it. Thanks again
Here are some starting points: (hopefully you test fit the door cards to make sure the crossovers fit in that spot)
Passive crossovers are nice because you don't have to do much tuning at all (it's all internal)
Adjusting time alignment is still accomplished easily with a tape measure
Make sure "loudness" is off (if an option in the HU)
Adjust your amp gain all the way up (until you see clipping, then back it down just beneath the clipping point with the HU at maximum listening volume)
Do not use filters in the HU when running passive crossovers, ensure a full signal is going to the X-over
Nice..ill be doing the same..
You used the original speaker housing?
And now im wondering how much space there is to mount xovers
I keep looking up different models..the morels have huge xovers..but get great ratings...

Definitely not a fan of Morel (especially their entry level stuff). They were so bad, I gave them away for free.
