Ok, so before I start soldering the wires together I have a few quick questions.. While I know I don't have nav on my unit do I still need to hook up the pink wire to Nav pink wire on the RP5? not sure if waze will use that when in use.. Also I don't have a solid blue wire, just the blu/wh (rp5 harness) so should those go together on the kenwood harness to the blu/wh on the RP 5 harness as some YT videos suggest? Little confused about the extra yellow wires on the RP5 side but from what I read at the end I'll have 3 yellow and 3 black wires together in the end... I know I'm being really **** here.. ;-)
Yes, you need to connect the pink wire.
Only use the blue/white wire to the PAC blue/white wire,
You need to provide more "juice to the ignition circuit. Read pages 5 - 8 here: https://pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/Im...541RP5GM11.PDF
very interesting.. I was on the phone with PAC just before and they didn't mention this at all.. just connect the 3 yellow and 3 black together.. wonder if the kenwood 9707s is not considered a high output radio?.. thank you tho..
The newer RP5-GM11 interfaces come with additional yellow and black jumper wires. This is for the power wires to bypass the Pac module (blue box). This is as an insurance to take care of a potential issue with some Pac modules. It has nothing to do with your aftermarket head unit. There should be a yellow and black wire that go through the "blue box" and then jumpers that connect the yellow and black wires without going through the "blue box". This keeps the connection if the connection in the box ever fails.

yup.. that looks to be like the harness that I have.. One yellow and one black come out of the radio harness that goes into the rp5 and it also is jumpered out... I'll be soldering the wires together later today.. Thanks..
so I have it all working fo r the most part.. I kept the single USB port in the console because I just didn't like the fit of the dual port usb cables that are out there.. problem is I can't that usb port recognized on my HU.. I tried 2 different mini usb to usb A cable to no avail... If I plug it onto the cable coming out of the HU the usb stick works fine... pissing me off but I guess I must move on and button everything up for now.... other issue is on hook on my SWC is not working but that looks to be programming issue with the RP5 itself.. which also looks to be a pia.. arrrrggg
Update..had to reset the radio to see all of the settings.. go figure..
ya, so mine doesn't look like that.. ;-) I was finally able to get the original usb port to work once torchredfred showed me the one he used.. the other 2 cables I bought didn't work at all... this the right cable I got from amazon "StarTech.com 1 ft. (0.3 m) USB to Mini USB Cable - USB 2.0 A to Mini B - Gray - Mini USB Cable (USB2HABM1) " hope this helps someone else..
