Getting ready to redo the audio system in a 2012 GS, car has the 2 speakers in the dash corners (center will be eliminated) and haven’t found much in regards to them and am wondering should I….
1.) replace the dash corner speakers with tweeters, 3.5” in upper door 6.5” in lower door 5.25” in rear
2.) eliminate the dash speakers all together and just do the component setup in the upper/lower door and do the rear speakers.
either option will be with a 10w3v3 sub and RD900/5amp.. options considered are below.
jl audio c2-650 components-Lower doors/tweeters
c2-525x-rears
c2-350x-upper doors??
rd900/5 amp
10w3v3/vettenuts box
kenwood DMX957 headunit
Hushmat will also be being installed throughout and am open to other recommendations as well thank you!
When I did my C6, I went with something bigger for my mid bass and also a real 3 way front stage. 3.5 midrange, and 3/4" tweeters in the dash. I ran a pdx5 Amp. 2 channels to the door subs, two channels to the mids and tweets. Ran the rear of the radio power. It was loud and crystal clear. C6 audio
I skipped the dash stuff and went hi energy speakers in doors and rear fill. Don’t know if you’ll be pleased with the C2’s after some time with only 60w RMS. The Corvette is kind of a noisy car just by design. JL’s makes great 6.5 components and had the C5’s in my C6 but ended up replacing them with Hertz 6.5 HSK’s because they could handle 125w each RMS. rear fill I installed Morel Tempo Ultra Integras with 100w RMS each from an Audiocontrol LC 4.800
for the rear I have a 10w3v3 in a JL stealth box getting juice from a JL XD600.
My car is supercharged, long tubes, gutted cats and NPP cans. It can be very loud when I have the flaps open and throttle down but I can easily drown it out with tunes, It’s really good quality even cranked. Lots of different ways to skin the cat but that’s what I like.
