I bought the last piece for my bose replacemant today. A pair of JL Audio 8W3 8 inch subs for $101 on ebay. They are used but i'm told their mint.
They were at $66 with seconds left so i placed a max of $101.10 and it took avery penny of my max bid. I guess the current high bidder had set a max around $100 so i barely got them. Did i pay too much ?? I have never had any JL equipment but i have read great reviews on their stuff.
For now my upgrade consists of a sony cdxm8805x cd-mp3 head, infinity 6000 components and a pair of JL subs powered by a Carver amp. In the future i may move the Carver to power the fronts and get another amp for the subs.
What do you think ? I'm not looking for mind bending volume but more of a full clear sound. Will i be happy ??
Thanks for any input
Friends of mine have a real hard time with the Bose cd player going out. The heat seems to kill them. Either way, with a deck that can do mp3s I'd say you'll be really happy. Those subs will probably sound great once some power is on them. Assuming you build the box for them correctly.
The plan for now is the 6 1/2'' drivers in the factory door locations, the tweeters in the factory dash locations and the subs into the factory rear locations. The amp behind passenger seat. There is no hurry to fit it all in as there are 2 more months of snow here
The link to the subs at factory rear location is exactly what i'm planning on. Heck, those are the subs i just bought.
I'll have to send him a pm and ask how he likes his JL's in there.
JL is one of the few companies I will buy products from. You will be happy, I can guarantee that. I'm leaning towards the two 8's back there too. I'll likely just go with a pair of W0's though, but it is nice to know that a beefy W3 will fit.
