Thanks for the detailed feedback. I will definitely add this to my "things to check" between weekends. Sounds to me like the damage that can result is far greater than the prize of winning a tire. If you are saying that I will definitely hear it when it happens, I am willing to take the risk and run it up until that point.
Are mufflers required in TTA/PTA? Easy to ditch them, not so easy to find a lightweight replacement. I'll help keep and eye on them kevin....I'll bring the JBWeld along also!

Nothing's required, but most things cost points to alter. Mufflers is one of them that few people find worth the points cost.
Any change to the OEM exhaust from header back is +2 points.

Except a simple cat delete which is +1 point. If you wanted to delet the cats and put an x-pipe in their place it'd be +3 total. But then you could do the catback as well for no additional points.
In my opinion, my car is already detuned from stock hp/tq levels so any change to the exhaust does me zero good.
Yep... in my case the 245s allow me 30 more rwhp. I don't have the points for LT headers, but I'll see what I can get out of the Halltech intake and cat delete. I'm hoping the old girl can make around 380.
it really sucks that replacing an exhaust component, which probably wouldn't give you any benefit (even if it did, it would change your power-to-weight) costs points, but something like a Clutch change is free/open. I know you guys enjoy it, but TTA/PTA just irritates me.
The DavidFarmerStuff-prepped, PCMforLess-tuned, C5 Mafia, PTA/TTA #01 C5Z06 is ready for Comp School. Now if Friday will just hurry up and get here!!!!!!!
BTW, I will have feedback on a pilot engine oil cooler from PCMforLess after next weekend. Results should be extremely promising.
Gotta say thanks to the following for all of the support over the past couple of years as well as prep for 2012: David Farmer, PCMforLess, NASA, Genesis Automotive, CMD Automotive, Hoosier, Discount Tire, Safety Solutions, Simpson, Carbotech, Discovery Parts, OG Racing, Performance Tread, Pro-Tint and Grassroots Motorsports Magazine. And a big thanks to Tarheel Sports Car Club and my instructors through the years for teaching me how to drive.

I think the tune and clutch free mods came about from policing issues (its easier).
Kevin,
That's the cleanest I've ever seen that car! Good luck in comp school and get used to thanking your sponsors. Thanks for all the awesome instruction you've given me over the past few years. I've never had an instructor say GAS, GAS, GAS everywhere on the track! Thanks for pushing me to my limits (and beyond sometimes). I guess I can start doing time trials now that you and Morris are moving up.
