Sorry. I gave you the wrong hookup. I was writing from memory. (not suggested!) I'll check when I get home. I'm sure I just tapped into the brake circuit. Whatever I did, it works.

I just replaced my tail lights with LED. Funny the supplied LED style flasher didn't work. I had to use the original flasher!

Sure sounds like I'd have more light back there regardless of the "syndrome" and that's what I'm looking for. Maybe a siren or two would help as well. Thanks for explaining how it will work. Dave

Geez, Tom. Sorry to see that. I came very close to the same thing TWICE in probably eight to ten times out for a ride. Hope you were able to get the damage fixed to your satisfaction. Dave

Use an ultra-bright RED led light that fits old backup socket. No need to change lens. You will notice new leds light up faster than your incandescent brake lights.
Using the RED led bulbs in the inner lights will allow you to retain the clear lens and the look of backup lights. For the outer lights I use the full led lens not just the led replacement bulbs.

Not sure I know what you mean by full led lens. Would you mind explaining that a bit more? I only know about the bulbs available. Thanks. Dave

why not hang a 3rd brake light inside that big back window, my friend put one in his '74 coupe and feels much safer, might be a bit of a wiring nightmare but they'd have no excuse then!

OUCH, Tom!

Was the repair cost really high on that bump? I'm only a couple of days away from having my Aug. 21 "incident" closed, and the all in cost will be close to $14k.

Default Brake lights

For coupe owners. I installed a third high mounted LED brake light. I used a Pilot LED Strip with 15 LEDs. It attaches to the upper rear window rubber seal. I got a simple circuit from JC Whitney designed for this type of application. Works just like modern third brake light. Unless someone points it out you don't know it is there until you step on the brake. Other LED strips could be used. Super Bright LEDs has strips as well as LED replacements for the 1157 bulbs.
