1984-1987, yes I hit the Midway. Made three cruises (San Jose,
Niagra Falls and Spica) Spent a lot of time in the PI when the Midway had some sort of mechanical problem and the battle group never formed up.
I got two fans with the car. I stopped on the way home and bought a new fan clutch. I put the seven blade fan on the car because I thought it would move more air but a friend of mine said he thinks the 5 blade is original to the car. Not that it matters since it is NOM but I was just curious.
What say ye?

I think you'll find the 7-bladed fans were used on Big Blocks and A/C cars.
Small world. I was a RIO in F-4s in VF-151 on the Midway from '83 to '86. You probably delivered my mail.
and chow. Those 3am vertreps were good flying, all stick and rudder, none of you suck and blow guys around to interrupt our work.
The F-4 is a great looking aircraft. We had an AF flight of two bounce our flight of two by Anderson AFB - they went under (we were at 500ft), hit afterburner and went straight up in front of our lead helicopter. I saw them go under, so I wasn’t surprised (my jaw was hanging open) but the lead bird HAC just about $hit himself. It wasn’t as dangerous as it sounds because we were in pretty spread formation and the F-4s were moving very fast. So fast that the noise caught up with us about a half second later.
I was still flying until I had a stroke 4 years ago. Can’t get a medical anymore, but I fly once in a while with an instructor. Not the same as single pilot in IMC and after years of flying solo, I don’t like cockpit small talk.
If it is a 427 car, I just happen to have a 1966 427 425HP! I had wild thoughts of putting it in my '59, but common sense tells me that it would be better going to a guy looking for a 427 .
The engine is actually in an old 26 ford hot rod frame. The builder mated it to a tremec 5-speed and had a pretty 'beastly' coupe. He fell off his house roof and was injured quite bad. Put in the hospital and then a nursing home since it affected his brain also. The rod was stored in his shed and thieves decided they wanted most of it. The car was stripped of its body and most any other part they could cart off. So basically I got it with the frame, engine, and transmission. I had ideas of putting it my '59 but reality has set in and my car building days are over. So today I decided I probably should list some of it for sale. I really think the engine should go to a fellow Vette guy that is restoring a 427 powered Vette, hence my reply to the thread. I think the casting number is 3869942 and the pad stamping is T0208IP.
I don't have a lot of knowledge on the big blocks but my rodder friends tell me it is a very sought after motor, but maybe they mean by someone needing it.
Thanks, I have to find out more as I am not real familiar with the numbers. I know this would be a Feb 8 engine and I think IP is 427 / 425HP Manual transmission. Is there a VIN number on the pad? This casting was also used in full size cars like Belair, and possibly others. Do you know anything about the running condition, how long it has been sitting, condition or anything else? Is it a complete engine, or if not what is missing? Thanks,
thanks for the offer, but since my car was originally a 390 HP car, the wrong engine is still the wrong engine. I know there are others out there that will be interested, good luck with the sale.
