In dating myself, I quit when they got to a dollar a pack. I walk through an airport now past a vending machine and I think to myself, you need a small loan just to buy them.
Good Luck
When I was in the military they were $2 bucks a carton overseas
I started smoking in the Navy, because the smokers got smoke breaks, everyone else had to stay working!! But like I said above, smoke-free since June after smoking for 15 years.
today is day 17 no smoking for me. i've smoked for 8 years, since i was 14, i'm now 22. did it cold turkey, its the best way to go. nicotine is addictive, smoking in not just a bad habit. www.whyquit.com is a very informative website, there is a lot to read. that is how i came to this quit, and never plan on taking another puff again. life is better as an ex-smoker.
Been smokin' tires for years. It's a habit that I just can't quit.
A buddy of mine, my father-in-law, and my mom all quit smoking the same year. A flu was going around that stuck with them for better than a month. They had no desire to smoke when their lungs were so congested from the flu that when they finally felt good enough to smoke again they realized they'd been off the cig's for a month already and so just kept it up.
I tried a few times, slowly smoke less and less, patch, gum.. That doesn't work, you're still putting nicotine into your system. At least that was my experience. What worked for me was to set a date well ahead of time, be mentally prepared, then quit on that day and NEVER smoke/chew even a little bit again.
I smoked and chewed for about 10 years, quit about 2 years ago.
I'm not a smoker that quit, I'm a non-smoker. That's an important attitude to develope.
I was smoking three packs a day, and no one thought I would ever quit, but I have not touched one since last March, not a single drag. I thought every thing would suck if I quit, but even my attitude has been better since When you smoke you think it makes life easy to deal with, but it really makes you more stressful, becuase you always think you need a smoke to go on with the day. It is a lie
My Dad quit about 15 years ago after a 20+ year habbit. He got to a point where he really wanted to quit. The motivation was partly health but mainly becuase how much non-smokers hate the smell. In his case none of his loved ones smoke, that may have made it easier.
When he deiced to quit he kept a pack in his shirt pocket and glove compartment. He wanted to proove to himself that he was in control, not them.
He hasn't smoked in 15 years, but he admits that he is still tempted.
I guess you will always love them, so don't ever think you can have just one.
no your not, nicotine is a very addictive drug; some say even more addictive than crack cocaine. my father smoked for almost 50 years; the stroke and open heart surgery finally broke him of the habit.
Unlike crack, there is no nicotine withdraw after 3 days. So after that it is all mental and no longer a chemical addiction.
I had quit for four years then I had a really crappy day at work while in the midst of my divorce. I smoked one cigarette and that's all it took to start right back up again.
