Default Lower Dash Skins

Has anyone used or saw the lower dash pad skins that glue on. How do they look. I know I am going to use a skin for my upper dash pad but I really need to do something about my lower drivers side dash pad. The previous owner cracked the plastic behind the padding above the Tach and I need to repair it which will involve messing up the dash. I really don't have the funds to replace the dash now with a new one. Any help?

My left lower dash pad is also cracked around the tach. The plastic under the vinyl was cracked with only the slightest crack showing from the front. I gave alot of thought to my options and decided to repair it. I epoxied the back of the crack and screwed several steel mending plates in. The repair held but the pad cracked right next to the repair when I went to reinstall the panel. I guess the 30 year old plastic is pretty brittle.

I came to the conclusion that futher repair and a reskin would be a waste of money. If you recover one piece I think you will end up recovering all pieces to get it to look right. I decided to live with the little crack until I have the funds to replace the whole dash.

Yours may look worse than mine but thats my .02.

I re-skinned my door panels...and they were a pain in the b^*t. But I would think the dash panels would be much easier. If you do it, you will probably want to re-dye all of the dash panels the same color (use a good vinyl dye, like SEM). It will look like new.

they look great if they are done properly just remember you have one shot @ it once you put it on and the glue dries it is not coming up. prep is everything.

Yeah ... I'm seriously considering the Corvette Central door
skins ... not bad at $75 each if they work out well.
Are these the skins you used ?

Per the question about pics of the re-skin job.... I tried to reply earlier, but got a "pop up" ad which wasted my link. Anyway, I would be glad to take some pics, but wifey is in VA with her daughter (and first grandchild!) and has the camera. This is one time when family pics trump Corvette pics! (sorry)
