Costs next to nothing to insure, it beats 99% of cars in the stop light grand prix, it gets 50mpg, it's easy to ride, and it handles extremely well. I also split lanes constantly, and that's just not an easy task on a big cruiser.

28 now

my young age attributes to why I no longer have my C3 but am now in the market for another

I had my 79 from age 21-24 and it was my daily driver

nowadays I can pretty much afford to have the 72 I want to get and drive it on perfect days for doing so, and drive my Dodge Ram to work and back

but then, when I had to be at work in 30 minutes in horrid Atlanta traffic and I backed out of the driveway to find that I had no brakes, broken motor mounts, or whatever it chose to throw at me, eventually the car had to go in place of something a little more reliable...dammit

but there shall be hope on the horizon soon

I'm 49 and I purchased my first Vette (BB Coupe) when I was 18 and kept that Vette for a year. I then purchased a 1972 BB Coupe when I was 23, (in 1980) and I still have the Vette to this day. Haven't driven it much (1,500 miles in 26 years), as it's been in storage since 1986. Vette currently has 47,700 original miles on it. My goal is to get it out of storage and back on the road this year. Wish me luck.

Different states, different driving rules. In california you can get your permit at 15 1/2 and then get your license at 16. In Arizona it's similar, but at 16 you get a class G license, basically makes penalties harsher, and you get your C or D (I think it's D in AZ) license at 18. Your license is also displayed vertically until you're 21, to make for easier carding at bars and such. At 21 you can go and have it reprinted horizontal. In Arizona your license also doesn't expire for like 35 years, where in California you have to renew like every 5 years.

Lane splitting...Something I did ONCE, and ONLY once. I don't do it anymore because I had an @$$ construction guy who saw me coming and opened his door on me. Fortunately, the guy in the car next to him also saw him, and his car was damaged by the car door opening up into his brand new Jetta. I got out of it on my insurance because I was actually past the door when he opened it up onto me, and therefore could not have swerved or anything to avoid being hit, and because eyewitnesses said it was done to hit me.

However, I was warned by the judge not to split lanes again, and since that day have yet to do it again.

I can relate to that.Im the youngest in my club by far and Im 34.Some of the meetings can be brutal.

That's ok, my "heavy, slow, loud and overpriced" bike does 12.8 seconds in the quarter, and I don't have to drive like an idiot to prove it.

42 yo...got my 1st (and only) Vette when I was 41; wanted one since I was 14 (took long enough)...

I like to think my car actually belongs to my 10 year old son (so does he). Hopefully I can afford to keep it around long enough to pass it on making him one of the youngest owners I know....

I joined the 40 and over group a few months back. Looking forward to my first copy of AARP magazine, along with a trial offer of Depends undergarments. I've switched from Pepsi to prune juice and am in the Rug-of-the-month club for my chrome-dome.

To combat all of this, I bought a 1970 Corvette about 3 months ago. There's a foot of snow on the ground right now, so she's in the garage and I'm getting her ready for Spring.

Had a '68 Camaro but sold it about 15 years ago - big mistake! I had forgotten what fun it is to drive a classic.

This one time at band camp....

Found out that a friend's mother used to make parts for Lucas while working at home (outworkers). Hehe. For the first few weeks of owning our '67 E-Type, every time the car got warm enough for the radiator cooling fan to kick in the fuse in the fuse panel would blow. Then, after we replaced wiring from the otter switch back to the fuse panel, it was ok...For about 2 weeks.
Aha, I see what the problem is: in the case of a short then replace the wires with longer ones.
Then we actually got the fuse panel to smoke & melt slightly. Fortunately, the only other thing on that fuse was the horn, so we wired a manual fan switch from the fan to the switch for the compartment fan.
You've got the standard Lucas 6 position swith, I'll wager (it looks like a 3 position switch, but if you wiggle it a bit the existing functions change to the alternative functions - kinda like a shift key on a PC). The 1st 3 positions are OFF, DIM & FLICKER. The other positions are SMOKE, SMOLDER & IGNITE. Try the DIM position, or possibly the FLICKER position if you've got a long journey
That car gets hotter than our C3 when it's been running for a while, and so even in the dead of winter you're driving the car around with the windows down to keep from baking. Although, with the new water pump we put in, and the radiator flush we performed to get most of the gunk out, we're hoping that we've eliminated most of the cooling problems and it'll run cooler now.
That's due to attention to detail in the design phase. It's to ensure that any beer bought on a booze run in the dead of winter reaches it's destination nice & warm!
Our MGB used to cook my feet &, after tryng the normal checks on the cooling system & drawing a blank, I gave up looking. Later I fitted a stainless exhaust system & the interior temps dropped a lot. Found the same thing happened with my C3 after fitting ceramic coated headers & stainless pipes (which is lucky as I've removed the aircon). Could be worth a shot?

Remember, Lucas can't claim to have invented darkness, but they can claim sudden, unexpected darkness

Hmm, seems you've pegged the switches to a T!

We're going to end up changing out to a stainless steel exhaust; the current one is pretty well rusted and while we're not positive, we're fairly certain there's a rust hole in the exhaust pipes. I figure that'll work the same way when we end up redoing the C3's exhaust, and if that fails, we have header wrap that we can slap on the exhausts to help quell some of the heat.

*sigh* Sometimes after I get done trying to work on these cars, I feel like I'm older than the cars themselves!
