I took delivery of my '79 in June of '79. Very soon after that, I started seeing pictures of the '80. I was pissed because the '80 rear bumper was ready for 79, but Chevy held it back to introduce with the new front end in '80. I loved the rear, hated the front. But after all these years, the '80 nose has grown on me. I'm bi, I could go either way.
In the Porsche community we have one simple piece of advice, "buy the best condition and latest year model you can afford".
I looked at alot of c3 vettes before purchasing my 80 and I think it is the sharpest of the C3 era. The 80-82's look fast when parked. Just my 2 cents.
'80 all day long. '80-'82 is by far the best styled car of the '74-'82 run and the '79 is probably the worst, not to mention they made a zillion of them. PC help them a bit but they are pretty low on the food chain.
Well, I always thought that the 80-82's were overdone with too many spoilers and vents and things.
I prefer the 78-79 look which is cleaner and closer to the 68-72 style which everyone loves.
What surprises me, is that the majority prefer 80-82.
I haven't actually counted, but it has to be 3 or 4 to 1.
I find it interesting that people love the 68-72 chrome bumpers.
But when the bumpers went rubber, people didn't like them very much
But when the rubber bumpers went extreme,
with spoilers and a "Leno" chin, they seem to fall in love again.
What's with that?
