bubba had gutted the back box's and had two ten inch subs and tweets and all kinds of amps and neon. i spent alot of hours putting it all back in when the roll cage was done. the only time i turn it on is during long runs on the highway with the windows up and ac cranking. hindsight, the delete plate filled with a few more guages sounds nice.

I had to get "professional" help fixing a ground problem on my 73 BB project. When I went to pick it up he told me he also fixed the radio. I had no idea it was even torn up. I much prefer the sound of 500 horses exiting thru 50 series flowmasters.

Yep. Unless I'm playing some good jam on an old cassette, which is rare. The radio doesn't play anything worth listening to most of the time anyway.

I had a stereo boombox behind the seats for a while but I didn't like the music competing with the sound of the engine. I turned on my radio on the way to Carlisle this year and was amazed that it worked, and as an extra bonus I got some useful traffic info from the radio. I was thinking, "Wow, this is just like driving a real car!!"

I do but not by choice. 468ci + open header side pipes = a lof of noise. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't listen to the radio anyway.

I don't care for exhaust sound. I really like induction noise and just the sound of the engine itself especially when you exceed 5k.

All them parts slamming around make nice sounds.

Nope, you're not crazy at all. I've always loved listening to the sound of my exhaust. I used to have Flowmaster 40s installed and those things used to sound great - especially with the windows down and under an overpass or in a dense city block (where I can hear the sound reflecting back at me).

Aside from the exhaust sound, I love the sound of the engine winding up through the RPMs at full throttle. Even after driving the car for 6 years with a weak L-48 it never ceased to put a smile on my face

I don't know if its just the speakers that suck or what, but I can hardly hear any music in my '79 over the mufflers and the sound of the wind when I'm driving at any speed anyways.

I've had my '79 off the road for about 14 months now as I'm doing a partial restoration (everything except the interior and paint) and I've upgraded to Hooker Side Exhaust with Spiral Turbo Baffel inserts and a 383 with a nice lopy cam. I can't wait to get that thing running so I can just mellow out to the sound.

T-tops off, windows down, rear window out (where did I leave that anyway ) M-22 whining, solidlifters clacking, side exhaust all contribute to a symphony of muscle car sounds.

Radio quit working a couple years ago, even when it did work, it only played to one failing speaker.

Why would you want to listen to the radio while driving a Vette?! You've got the choice of a DJ wanking on about a load of inane drivel, or Z list "celebrities" giving opinions on things that they know sweet FA about (eg Global Warming), or non-stop Eagles, Joe Walsh & Supertramp tracks, or rap, or hip-hop, or talk shows, or the music that you'd listen to at home, OR...... that wonderful 8 piece following you down the road There's no competition, the radio is there to fill an unsightly hole in the console! Besides, I couldn't afford the sort of sound system needed to drown out the exhausts
It all comes down to the definition of a true sports car. A true (originally) sports car puts you up close & personal with the mechanical workings of the thing, it doesn't divorce you from it all & cocoon you in a luxury sofa, surrounded by gadgets, with a smooth silent ride. You should hear each cylinder firing, you should hear the intake roar, the combustion rumble from deep within the motor, the gears meshing, the tires gripping (or not) the road, the dampers "whooshing", the sound of rockers on valves, pushrods chattering, etc. Music has no place here, it's the equivalent of a Spitfire with silencers!

I have a very nice Kenwood system. I think it still works! I don't think I've even turned it on in a year. I don't even have any CDs in the car! I just for the sweet sound of my L-82!
