I put the original am/fm radio back in my 76. It works ok but I rarely turn it on. I prefer the sound my engine makes through the dual 2.5" aluminized pipes and Magnaflows. That's all the music I need when I'm in my vette.
If and when I am behind a performance engine. There is nothing on that would take away being able to hear it run. If for nothing else to make sure nothing is wrong. If you listen it will tell you everything you need to know.
my radio has never worked properly, and I have never bothered fixing it. sidepipes sound better than anything on the radio anyway.
i have a nice radio' cd player in my 72 with the windows up music on and i can still here the rumble of the hooker side pipes.
sometimes it seems like it keeps time with the music if the song is something like
born to run or run through the jungle.
top down all you here is the intake sucking air and the hookers screaming beautiful music .

BIG BLOCK RUMBLE IS EVEN BETTER, IT'S LIKE ROCK & ROLL VS HEAVY METAL
I have the original Delco Stereo in my '73, took my 15 year old daughter out for a cruise a couple of days ago. She turned on the radio, I told her that was how radios sounded 33 years ago.
She was not impressed, after listening to some bad tunes she turned the radio off.
I told her I never turn on the radio because headers and dual exhaust are the best stereo my ears could ever hear. She gave me one of those I love you dad but you are kinda crazy looks.
Love my wife,kids and '73.
You have a radio?! Seriously though, mine hasn't worked since I got the car. I have one to put in there. I'll have to try it out after I install a motor. Knowing how I like to drive fast with good tunes it might not be a good thing. I don't need any help with that in the vette!

I have between 650 to 700 CD's...putting it mild'ly, I love music (Blues & Jazz). I had my 72 FM stereo radio completely restored... Never play it, no comparison to solid lifters and Magnaflows Muddy
Ok, you guys are making me second guess my decision to put a cd player in my 70 this spring. I do agree that taking the tops off and back window out make all the difference when listening to my series 40s but I also think the addition of the right tunes can make some drives even better!
