Y'all are lucky you at least have a Sonic nearby. Nearest one for me is 1 1/2 to 2 hours away.
I always eat there when I visit my dad, though. There's one right down the street from him in Tucson.
The last time I was in SoCal ... I discovered & liked In & Out Burger near Santa Barbara- Ventura ... no skates, no carhops but great burgers & attitudes. Do you have those around SD? We have plenty of Sonic around here ... but no I&O, no white castle. And ... we have really, really good vinegar-pepper pork BBQ.

If you want to see the best picture ever taken at a SONIC drive in.......just look at Maybergs profile pictures! I never cared for
Sonic until I saw that picture. As soon as I finish the resto on
my 74 BB Vert, I'm going straight to Sonic an SMOKE EM!

Only thing is they don't have the hickory burgers at the Sonics out here. One I usually go to is at Harrison and Broadway, closest one is at Wrightstown and Pantano. Which one do you hit?
They're building an In-N-Out at 22nd and Randolph, can't wait til it opens.
See...this is why I love being 19 and owning a C3 (even if its a little rough around the edges atm). And its even better having friends my age with old cars as well
For those of you not acquainted with In-N-Out burgers (great food, BTW), you might find this funny: They've been around for years (since the 1950's, IIRC) and have bumper stickers like the following:
In-N-Out
Burgers
complete with graphics too, of course. Anyway, many people would black-out the "B" and the "rs" in "Burgers" so that the bumper sticker would end up reading "In-N-Out urge". So, if you're ever in SoCal and see those bumper stickers, you now know how they got started!
Come to think of it, I haven't seen many of them in a while - I wonder if In-N-Out stopped making those bumper stickers?
ive had girls tell me straight to my face before "ewww, that looks like a car old people drive"
it takes a LITTLE bit of self control not to go off the deep end on them.
21 and driveing an old persons car for 3 years now apparently.... who knew?
if i drove this car for the single reason of picking up women, i would be sorely dissapointed. luckily, i love driveing it just because its fun as hell to drive. ... when it works correctly.
oh yes, cant forget when i parked the vette a little strip mall. theres 4 stores in there, cigular, subway, eb games, and starbucks.
i head into EB games to pick something up, cant remember for the life of me what it was... maybe Oblivion. anyways, when i come out of the store i see 2 women standing by my car looking like their waiting to meet the owner, probably in their late 30s - early 40s. little old for me but i figured id say hi and have a little small talk. i walked over to them and said hi as i stuck my key in the lock. they took one look at me, didnt even say anything and walked back to their Porche cayenne and Ford excursion.
i dont know why, but i laughed my *** off all the way back home from that one.
