maybe it should only be a one way movement of threads.....only take "general" threads out of tech...and leave any "tech related" threads that are started in general in general....let the poster decide what he wants to put in general....yes C3 people are a different breed

It's simply un-doable for a moderator to constantly keep moving these posts...especially with so many people posting in the wrong section. If you merge the whole deal again you'll have 1 section where everything is instead of 2, people can't post in the wrong section, no one has to get upset, the mods don't have to move...
The inability to grasp the difference is where the problem begins

Members need to understand that the General section is for threads concerning any C3 topic that is not "Technical/Performance," in nature, or does not involve the sale of a C3 or the sale or need for parts.

Questions such as, what tires have you recently put on your C3, and what's your opinion of them, belong in C3 Now, questions asking, will this size tire fit on my C3 or will I need to make any modifications, is Technical in nature and should be created in the Tech section.

Members need to start looking at both sections to review the threads in each.

No, unless you have mounting questions, or other modifications that would be required. General questions about what tire do you recommend, would not be Technical, but, general.

Stripping and painting should be in the Tech section.

Is it possable that we can get a C3 owner as a Moderator??
Moderator Gdaina and ddecart are both C3 owners

we never wanted the forum split in the first place remember?

"Drawing" the line is where it becomes difficult.

Tires and wheels in general, are, well General.

Stripping and Painting....going to end up in the newly created Paint\Body forum. (See the priming/paint thread that was just started. It does not necessarily only pertain to C3's.)

...And as far as some of us not owning a C3, it shouldn't make a difference. I/we love ALL generations of Vettes. Our intent is only to keep the forums in line with the other forums here on CorvetteForum.

Personally, I like the way things are, and I agree with most of the moved threads. Not a problem for me. I think the mods have things well in hand and I trust their judgment. If we make a bad call on placement...it will be moved and we will know better for next time.

Thank you. As we said, we're just trying to keep everyone happy but sometimes that isn't always possible. If you or anyone ever have any questions, please do NOT hesitate to PM any one of us.

WHAT change?? nothing changed.....threads were being moved because they were in the WRONG PLACE.....except it is now OK to post OT in C-3.......POST ****** REJOICE....and if worded just so, they can post anything anywhere. and (some of) you guys wonder why the old time posters (you know the ones with the knowledge rather than someone typing ALL DAY LONG just to hear himself type) rarely post...now you know...
...redvetracr

PS: and if you think this thread or the sticky at the top will make a difference look at C-3 tech....a post about the steering on a BMW.

I don't post much anymore.
The split is what jaded me.
I cannot be bothered to look here, there, and everywhere to read all the topics.
The only forum I read or post in is C3-Gen.
I guess when I paint my vette this spring, no one will know about it,
since I will not be visiting any paint and body forum either.
Perhaps I can post a pic or two to comment on the deep glossy black finish.
... just don't ask me what I used or did.

I don't mind the gen and the tech sections. I think stuff goes to the wrong place though because of a linking problem. When I go to https://www.corvetteforum.com/ I have it set up in the C3 theme. I look on the left and go to the Community section. There I see three different pages listed:
General Discussion
C3s For Sale/Wanted
C3 Parts For Sale/Wanted

Tech section isn't even an option. However when I click on General Duscussion it brings me to the tech forum. When I first joined I didn't notice and I mistakenly posted some general type threads in the tech dept. I imagine I'm not the only person that this happens to. Can anyone verify this? I can't be the only one.

This link menu from the front page has NEVER been fixed from the get-go.
Too much sweeping up in the C3 section to actually maintain the site, I guess.
Yes, it funnels "Gen" posts right into "Tech".

who uses the main page anyway? I think most people have either forum # 3 (C3 tech) or #119 (C3 gen) bookmarked and once on the forum page the navigation does work correctly.

Dave, if things progress the way they are doing now your paint post will be swamped in BS before you hit the submit button. Maybe post it in OT, with all the OT posts here there simply can't be any meaningful traffic there

As always I agree with Howard, this whole debate is about something really basic, posting in the correct section. Why don't people post OT in the for sale section? It seems that only for sale or wanted stuff iks posted there, why does it work for that area and not in tech/gen? Because some people are just too damn lame to bother putting it in the right section, not even talking about the tech posts turning OT after only a few replies...and it seems to be the work of a select few who highjack these posts, IMO anti hijacking should be enforced much more strictly.

Just look at my "post a pic of yourself" thread, in the initial post I worded exactly what the thread was about yet you still see posts that don't belong there, asking polite, asking not so polite..it all doesn't help. Some people just think they're the forum's gift as far as being the funniest guy online or have such a big attention craving that they have to post a pic of themselves and everything aroudn them. I don't mind anyone posting a pic of his family, but why post multiple pics in multiple replies? It's justa big respect issue, some don't respect someone elses post and feel the need to shout so loud that everyone hears (reads) him.
